Question about Sony Network Walkman NW-HD3 MP3 Player

Starts and shuts back down

The player starts. there is a display on the screen showing walkman.it then shuts down after showing the walkman sign. any solutions to this problem or is it a hardware problem? it does not even connect and does not show on my computer..i tried searching for it but it does not read or connect

The very same problem, it was dropped about 40cm onto a carpeted floor.

The hd3 screen starts & then just turns off, all of the shops & experts say is send it back to Sony.

And the cost is £72 + £59 for replacement hard drive, so an uneconomic repair!

Please any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

I have the same problem. Dropped it onto a carpeted floor and now it has this problem. I tried holding down the stop/play button and it did not help. Guess I am going to have to send it in too Sony to get fixed. Anymore ideas?

I had the same problem just hold the stop/play bottom. it will resume to its normal operation.

try it, if it is work for you player

Not really a solution, but I have the exact same problem with my NW-HD1...It happened after i dropped it, but upon opening the case I see no visual damage at all...I am probably goingt o send mine to Sony and hope they can repair it cheaply...

I have charged the player for the first time, when the battery was full I tried to turn it on....The display shows HOLD and then immediately the screen shows POWER OFF....Cannot turn this on ...

turn the hold switch off at the side if its still doing it then re set it switch the hold to on then of and hold down the menu button untill it re starts

Sony nwzb152f is not recognised. after plugging in it shows as "found new hardware" and walkman. after some time it shows as mtp device with a message " a problem occurred during...

I am having Sony NWZ B152f it is stucked and displays POWER OFF screen ....Buttons are not worked

The startup screen stays on and trys to load, but nothing happens. It shows the Walkman logo and their slogan and it's the same screen that shows up when it's starting up, but it's not getting past this...

Try a reset -- on the back of the player is a small hole that the tip of a paper clip will fit into. Press the tip in that hole for a cold start. you will not loose anything on the player.

Sony walkman won't turn off

That's what all Walkmans do. They only seem to go into standby when they say power off. Batteries drain anyway, but maybe it is being switched back on accidentally, so you need to turn the hold switch on. Even then, it is not properly switched off, it just stops things happening like music starting to play. I find this very annoying too.

It shows boot error shutting down

if you have the initial executing files that were on your mp3 when you bye,

Format your Mp3 on PC by FAT32 format and copy those on your Mp3 player folder

My Sony WALKMAN mp3 player won't charge

If it is a NW-A1000 I have a copy of the service manual please download it from HERE from deposit files..will be active until 29th November 2009, let me know if you need it for longer.

Goto page 9 section 4 TEST MODE.

1. Press HOLD to put the player in hold mode.
2. Hold down LINK and press in order UP, DOWN, OPTION, UP, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, LEFT, PLAY/PAUSE, OPTION.
3. Press HOLD to turn hold off. You will now be in test mode.

4. Press RIGHT to display menu items
5. Press the UP,DOWN to select the POWER
6. Press RIGHT to select V CHK
7. Press the PLAY key START is displayed and all the power lines will be started.

TP9027: 1.10 ± 0.05 V T
P9023: 1.3 ± 0.1 V
TP9026: 1.8 ± 0.1 V
TP9031: 3.0 ± 0.1 V
TP9018: 3.0 ± 0.1 V
TP9028: 3.3 ± 0.1 VT
P9024: 5.0 ± 0.2 V

You can check these on the main board to see it all are present if one is missing this will be why your walkman wont hold any charge.

Boot Error Shutting Down Sony NWD-B103

Had a similar problem with the B103F. Not sure it will work for the non F version.
Goto Sony's support site at http://www.sony-asia.com/section/support.
Search model - NWD-B103F (non F is not listed)
Look at the "latest downloads" and select the "firmware update program". (alternately you could first select the "download" section and then select the model.)
Download.
Run (without the unit plugged) and when asked plug the unit. To be on the safe side, ask it also to format the data section.
When finished, the unit should be OK.
