Question about Sony DCR-PC55E Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Sony DCR-PC55E well i've got an sony DCR-PC55E videocamera and everything works fine, except when i try to plug it into my computer. The computer doesn't recognise the video tape that is in the computer so i can't transfer the recorded stuff onto the computer, which results into not editing anything. Although the video tape doesnt show up on the computer the sony memorystick however shows up prefectly on the computer, images and all are all there. If anyone could help in any way on how to get the recorded stuff on the video tape onto the computer, it would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a dcr-pc55e and i think i might have the same prob , have you tried a firewire card and cable you will have to buy one if your pc has not got one you can get them off of ebay for a few pounds , i have just bought one because i had the same prob , but now the pc will see the video camera and start to take the images from my camera but then it just stops halfway into the tape . If you can get it to go any futher than i can after this please let me know , i have posted my prob on here to , thanks jimmer . You could try give sony a call on 0870 5111 999 or you could give the handycam helpline a call i think they are called pixella on 00800 15 32 48 65 to see if they can help i hope this helps you . jimmer

How to transfer video from a sony handycam DCR-PC55E to a dell latitude e4310

The simplest way is via memory card, using a card reader. However, if you want to connect your handycam to your pc, you can download the manual here:

I have the sony DCR-HC26E handy cam i'm trying to connect it with my pc (windows 7) by using usb cable it wont work my pc doesn't recognise my camera ....thanks

USB connection will allow still photos ONLY to be capture to a computer. To capture the footage from the tape you will have to connect with a firewire cable, also called iLink or IEEE1394a. Windows Movie Maker will be one program that can capture the footage.

Where can i get a lcd screen for my dcr-pc55e at a good price

Generally it's difficult to replace built in LCDs like this. I would suggest contact Sony to see if they have any spare, or will work on it for you.

Trying to import a recording into iMovie 07. It recognises the camera, will perform all operation functions and displays timecode but does not see the images and audio. When I switch the camera to record...

as far as i know, imovie 07 cant still support the AVCHD files recorded by cameras. U have to convert these files to mov first.
U can try Pavtube HD Converter for Mac to help u convert AVCHD files to mov that imovie can support. It can keep the output file in original quality.
Good luck.

Mac OS Tiger won't recognise files as movie files.

you need the latest imovie or at least imovie08 to play these videos on your mac.

Cant get my sony handycam dcr-pc55e tape on my pc .

Hi, I was wondering if you are using the AC Adaptor while downloading video? When you are not operating the camera, it will shut off automatically after approximately 5 minutes. This is to save the battery. It can be changed in the Standard Set menu: The item is called A.Shut Off. This can be changed to Never. Otherwise, I would use the AC cable if you aren't already.
