Purchasing an SD card might be better. Just for the fact that when your printer was manufactured the technology for SDHC cards were still not incorporated in your printer.
Your HP all-in-one can read the following memory cards: CompactFlash (I, II), Memory
Sticks, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Secure Digital, SmartMedia, and xD-Picture Card.
Note: It will not read an SDHC.
No, it's not possible, it'll never read SDHC in the SD slot. SD slot will only read SD, Mini SD (with adaptor) and Micro SD (with Adaptor). If there's no SDHC card slot, then it doesn't support SDHC Card. The lists of supported memory card are listed below:
CompactFlash™ Type I and II,
Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard/Secure MultiMediaCard (SD),
xD-Picture Card,
Sony Memory Stick®,
MagicGate Memory Stick,
Memory Stick Duo,
Memory Stick Pro
I hope this clears your doubt.
Note: SDHC and SD are different Memory Card types.
Well SD max is 2gb, so you can get 2gb if you want.
SDHC max is 32gb. If you are not on a budget, try upgrading your printer to a newer model.
SDHC is coming out with even newer models, now with a class 10 (10mb read/write speed - but very costly).
However, if it doesn't matter to you, might as well just stick with the same printer, since SD cards are coming down in price. Just make sure you get 2gb cards with a good class speed.
