Jvc mini dv camcorder no audio on playback

My camera was fine the last time i played back a recording but wen i had it hooked to the computer via a firewire, the audio started to cut in and out and completely vanish at times. Now whether it is hooked to the computer or not, there is choppy or no audio wen i playback recordings.......and i dont kno if this has anything to do with it but i just bought a new battery for the camera and it never had this problem until i inserted the new battery........

My JVC also doesn't play audio anymore, even on known good tapes.
I've tried it several times over the last couple of years and never got any audio, but just now I tried it again and I was getting some audio - on and off. I've already tried the head cleaning tape and it didn't work, but I might try it again a few more times.

SOURCE: How to transfer the video in Mini DV to my computer

I suggest getting the PCI IEEE 1394 also known as FireWire card. Most of the time these Firewire card comes with a Video editing software but verify because you will need some form of video editing s/w to record the video. After recording then you can edit it however you like and transfer to DVD/etc. Always a pain in the as to edit video. I've done it a couple of times. So have fun. I still have not manage to find a Video editing s/w that will do a 5.1 audio or multiple audio tracks (similar to switching between languages)

SOURCE: GR-D72 Mini DV Digital Camcorder makes clicking sound when tape running

the clicking is from the capstain turning the tape -- and perhaps the metal cage holding the tape.. if it is bent then the movement of the capstain may be pushing it in an eccentric fashion.

send it in for repair.

SOURCE: jvc mini dv camcorder won't record

This may sound crazy but I fixed mine by putting it in the microwave for 8 seconds along side of a shallow dish with about 1 tsp. of Hot Sauce!

Download mini DV tapes to computer

Win 7 with it´s automatic driver download from internet, corel studio 12 wen it starts shows transfer mini dv to dvd, and a normal firewire connection (from the right side of the lens -hidden under rubber cover-) that allows corel to use the camera automatically when the camera is on play mode.

Distorted sound on playback, samsung mini dv camcorder.

Try a DV tape cleaner first. If that doesn't work, see what it would take to get the audio heads realigned. Any camera store can do that for you.

No sound when playing back video

I had the same problem. Try this: open the LCD screen so that you can access the playback buttons.Make sure camera is in playback mode. Press the "menu" button. Select "narration" . Switch narration to "off" .Now you should hear the recorded audio when your tape is playing.
