LOL, you've go to take the laptop apart because in most cases the DC Power Jack is soldered onto the motherboard. That means once you get the motherboard out of the laptop be prepared to spend an hour or two trying to desolder and remove the one that is bad. This is like being a surgeon. You have to be very careful or you will damage the motherboard. Once you've got it off, then you have to solder the new jack onto the motherboard and put the thing back together.

My hp compaq tc4200 wont turn on.if i plug power cable it shows charging after few seconds it wont charge i removed battery but the problem still

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test your compaq tc4200 power supply with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

Dropped toshiba PSC2EU-00U02H and brock power jack and charger

MOST power jacks are repairable, though they require an experienced person to disassemble the computer and replace the jack. Older laptops have the jack soldered to the motherboard and require a complete disassembly, while newer laptops have the power jack on a wired connector that plugs into the motherboard (MUCH easier to fix).

Here's a link to YouTube video for a Toshiba Satellite C655 (I think that's your model) that shows the entire procedure:

You can check with local computer repair services in your area, though I generally find better prices online.

If the Charger plug is broken, you can order a replacement charger online as well.

Hello this is simon. i just turn off my laptop dell studio 1555 and it was working well before shut down. when i start this another day it just not start and dont show even any light. please help me

Hello, Simon.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.
