SOURCE: Changing stitches

You probably have not adjusted you stitch width and length.
Also a manual for this machine is currently being sold on Ebay for $4+. Probably would be a good investment for you.

SOURCE: My machine won't make a stitch

Easiest first. Be sure you have it threaded right. My first impression is the needle is in backwards.

take the bobbin winder post (the silver metal post on the top to the right next to the spool of thread and push it to the left toward the spool of thread. The SP means it is in Spool mode.

Stitch Selector will not change. How to get it unstuck?

Is it a mechanical (NOT computerized) machine? If so, your machine probably hasn't been cleaned and oiled and the selector mechanics are stuck. Consult your owner's manual, clean and oil as directed using only good quality sewing machine oil and apply only 1-2 drops of oil each place.

Try this ONLY IF IT IS A MECHANICAL MACHINE: gently try to move the selector bar and see where things should move and apply a drop of oil. Then direct hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the mechanics and see if that helps free things up. You may have to repeat multiple times.

Once it is working again, clean and oil every time you change a bobbin, every 8 hours of constant sewing, or every 6 months if not in regular use.

Consult your manual, the Troubleshooting section. It should explain what the Code 5P means and how to correct it.

IT IS A NEW MACHINE. THE PROBLEM IS... YOU HAVE TO PULL THE MATERIAL THROUGH. THE MACHINE WILL NOT PULL IT THROUGH AS YOU SEW.

are the feed dogs up? check the manual to find where the switch is to change this. sometimes it is a slide on front base or behind the freearm at the back.
other possibility could be stitch length setting is too low , should be 2.5 for normal straight stitch.
if you cant resolve perhaps ring the shop and ask them, maybe the machine has a 'transport' setting which needs to be switched off

Wont change settings

Take out the needle, tighten the needle clamp screw.

Select the zigzag setting plus the largest stitch width, run the machine quite fast for a few seconds. Turn the hand wheel so the needle bar is at it's lowest, turn power off, get hold of the needle bar and move it side to side half a dozen times.

Turn on power, run the machine again as before.

Go through all stitch type settings zigzag/straight etc and run the machine in each setting.

If after all that the problem is not solved I am afraid you need a sewing machine tech to have a look at it.

It would be interesting to know the make of machine and how old it is, plus when it was last serviced.
Best of luck
Rob
