Receiver turns off by itself

Hello, I have had my Marantz SR-680 for about 8 years now and I am still very happy with it. Lately, I have noticed that the receiver will turn off by itself while I am listening to a CD. If I wait a few minutes, it will turn back on. Sometimes it happens in the first few minutes of turning on the receiver, sometimes after it has been on for a few hours. The problem does not seems to cocme and go. It might happen twice in one week, then it won't happen for 3 or 4 weeks. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like it is zapped (fried outputs). Time for a trip to the repair shop. Good luck.

SOURCE: Center channel goes muffled after a while of use.

It is likely that something overheating is causing the problem, but nothing should be overheating. Cleaning won't hurt and may help but it is likely to require repair of the faulty component, perhaps a failing capacitor or amplifier.

It may be weird but it's a small suggestion formerly often occurred at Sony Trinitron TVs building years of 80/90 . maybe the same kind of problem.

Marantz SR-7200 reset

This was documented on the Marantz website briefly a year ago and is no longer available. My SR-7200 develops "click/pop" problems and a reset cures it of these issues.

While powered "off," on the front panel, press: A/D + FP +Dimmer (3 buttons) and power the unit on.

This reverts to original (out of box) settings. You then must reprogram input sources, speaker setup, levels and radio stations.

Marantz SR-7200 volume -29dB blinking

Check Speaker connections at BOTH ends and double check to see that they are on the right terminals.

If you need a manual . the Marantz site will have one . PLus they may have FAQ notes for that receiver

Hello i have a marantz receiver sr7400 fuse

Unplug the unit. Carefully unscrew the screws for the case. Probably 4 screws, 2 on each side of the unit. Remove the cover. Look for the fuses, and replace with exact same type/specs of the faulty fuse. If the fuse, is on a printed circuit board, be careful dislodging the fuse. Hope this helps.

I need the remote control code numbers for the SR-18 so I can turn it on with my Direct TV remote.Do you know what they are?

the best thing to do is a code search per the directv manual and hope the Marantz powers off when you find the code.

If it turns off, you have won half the battle. Save the code and try turning the Mar back on.
The issue is that these universal satellite remotes are very limited on there funtionality with audio systems.

Keep in mind that if you find a code that turns it on & off, you will probably be limited volume only. If you get those three functions, you are very happy and call it done.

Hope this helps.

This goes for all sounds systems and not only Marantz.

Marantz Surround SR7500 Receiver (don't know if anyone has this model)

Hi 3303k

Strange dramas you are having there. I would suggest first, that you switch the unit off overnight(unplug at the wall) to allow for a fulll hard reset. Then fire it up in the morning again, and see if it behaves itself. I found a user manual for you online here

It is a good amp that you have, and hopefully resetting it will sort it out for you. If not, please do get back to me here and we shall look deeper..

Thanks for using FixYa, a FixYa rating would be great for looking into this for you. Happy to help further :)
