The easiest way to find your SSID is to look on your wireless router. The default SSID -- the one it came configured with from the factory -- is always located on the bottom or rear of the router. If the SSID has been changed from the default or if you don't have physical access to the wireless router, you can find the SSID from a Windows 7 computer with Wi-Fi support.

Hi.

You may suggest to download the latest wireless card adapter drivers of their laptops. Generally, that solves the problem.

If updating the driver does not work, Right-click on the Network Status icon in the system tray:

  1. On the new window under tasks, Select Manage Network Connections
  2. Right click on Wireless Network Connection , Click on Continue on the popup window
  3. Under the Wireless Network card discription, click on Configure
  4. Click on the Advanced tab Select the last option in the list Wireless Mode.
  5. Change the value to 802.11g

See if this works.

Where do i find my ssid on my router

Out of the box your SSID should be linksys

You can find your ssid and change it by logging into the router interface, and checking the wifi settings. You will have to be connected with an Ethernet cable or use a computer that is already connected to your wifi network.

Start by getting the ip address of the router:
1.Press the "windows"+"R" keys (this will open the "Run" dialog box)
2.Enter "CMD" in the Run window, and press ok
3.In the Command Prompt window enter the following command "ipconfig" and press enter
4. locate the Ethernet adapter or local area connection if using an Ethernet cable. If you are using a wifi connection, you want to locate the wireless Ethernet connection.
5.Under one of those headings you want to locate the "Default Gateway" address. It will most likely be similar to one of the following: 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1
6.Open a web browser and enter the address you found under the default gateway.
7.You will get a login page for your router. Usually the login formation is as follows:
admin/admin
admin/password
admin/leave the password blank
9.Once you have logged in you want to locate the wifi/wireless menu on the page.
10.Here you will find the SSID of your wifi network

I dont know the wifi password -windows 7 of my broadband

When you power up the wireless router and the LEDs are ON then the router appears to be OK and this also applies to the DSL or cable wireless modem. To check if the modem is configured to your ISP settings and the modem connects to the Internet, connect the modem with a LAN cable to your laptop and check if you can get into the Internet. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1, Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

No wifi toshiba satellite a665d s5178 un able to install a wireless drive and fnf8 doesnt work

Is the wireless switch on that is located on the side or front of the laptop?

Did you ever see any wireless networks to connect to? If so, did yours try to connect? maybe you have the password/network key in wrong. It will never connect if the password is wrong.

For Windows XP below:
Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections then Right Click on the WirelessNetwork Connection and select Properties. When the Properties window openclick the Wireless Networks tab. Click on the SSID for your wirelessnetwork that you connect to and the Properties window will open. You canchange the Authentication Type to match the type set in your wireless routerand you can also change your password or Network Key to make sure you have itin correctly.

For Windows Vista below:

Click Start/Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center then look to the left ofthe open window and click Manage Wireless Networks. Find the SSID of thenetwork that you connect to and double click it. When the window opensclick the Security tab to change the Security Type (which is theAuthentication), The Encryption Type and the Network Security Key (which is thepassword).

For Windows 7 below:
Click Start/Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center thenlook to the left and select Manage Wireless Networks. Find the SSID of thenetwork that you connect to and double click it. When the window opensclick the Security tab to change the Security Type (which is theAuthentication), The Encryption Type and the Network Security Key (which is thepassword).

I have acer laptop 5580. 3 year old. Recently i have installed Windows 7. Wireless was working nice. Now, system is identifying the wireless, but not connecting. After troubleshooting it is giving...

If your device can detect other acces point then, your wifi device is correctly installed. If not, os will tell your wifi have problem. If you try connect, and have problem with connection, it came from your acces point(wifi router expample). Maybe it have password that have not match with your pc. If that access point is yours, then you can try check the password for wifi using cable connection.

If that acces point(wifi router) is not yours(public), then you cant get the password unless you try hack using air-ng, backtrend using wifi device that can capture and monitor the network(wifi *** support a/b/g exmple) if it only support b/g, you cant get wep encryption password.

If it does not have password, and you try to connect, but it still problem, that mean, it have restrictly to MAC address in wifi router.

I reinstalled XP and SP2. Now I need to configure the wireless connection. How do I do it?

Well, what you do is install any network drivers, for your WiFi adapter, then Install the software for your WiFi Card. Now your WiFi Router, has a Name.. an SSID, this is what you will "See" when you search for a network. Also it may have a WEP/WAP key... or "password" you need to know this. You should have all this info from when you installed the router. Now when you try to connect to the network, you choose the SSID & when asked enter your Key (Password/number) and you will be able to access the network. if there is none you just go straight through. This is done either through the Windows WiFi or the makers installed software.. it makes no difference really. If you use proprietary software you must turn off windows wifi manager.
