Purple images with horizontal white lines

Battery is stuffed, replace it. White lines is the early signs or the LCD is damaged and needs to be replaced.

This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A95 camera, ccd imager chip will be replaced to get clear picture. It was coincidence that problem occurred at same time when you did some settings but it is not setting problem.

If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). It sounds like your CCD image sensor is bad. Canon has issued a world wide technical notice regarding this, and will repair it at no cost if this is determined to be the problem, regardless of warranty.

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
