This is in regard to a Panasonic UF-790 fax machine. Faxes received from one party sometimes come through reduced to 50%, sideways, on half a page. I read through the manual and this problem was not mentioned. I tried making changes to the size: changed from Auto to Fixed, 96%. This didn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

First see if you plugged the phone line into the line jack and not the extension or answering machine jack, Sounds like it is not plugged into the LINE jack.
Thats the most frequent problem when you can fax out but not in.
I tend to agree that if it was a bad modem that any of the faxes would get out at all. You might try stepping down the max xmit rate. Did you try to manually dial the problem number? Did the person on the other end hear the fax ring or see any activity about trying to connect? What did the transmission report say? Any info will help.
