I read the problem and solution regarding the TV that won't power on either with the remot or with the manual power on. I too, hear a clicking noise and it appears that the TV is turning on and off. And I never actually see a picture.
The TV is one year out of warranty and I hate to throw it in the trash. But it was only $130 to begin with and would like to know if the problem is a short, whether it's worth fixing.
It looks like a tenant spilled a drink on top of the TV. I took it apart and it doesn't appear to have affected the board. Is it worth having someone look at this?

Re: Sanyo DS20930 TV Has a Short
It sounds like a relay switch has gone on it. Have you got a friend who could help you in this field. The repair man may charge you more than its worth. I sympathize with you it would be a shame to throw it away but hundreds are doing just that every day ... they are the rich ones!

No sorry to dissapoint DS is short for Definition STANDARD ... and is a cheap 20 inch model assigned to category 2 of televisions. To improve its reception you could apply a Digital setop box to it to get all the additional channels seen on a Digital. Probably last longer than most new plasmas and LCD's as this is quite a robust little TV.
Try resetting the settings. In the menu there should be a settings option. Reset them to default of facory settings. Here is a website that mayl help you with this.

If you have a "Menu" button on the front panel of your set, then you may be able to change settings from the menu this way. If not then you will have to have the original remote to change settings.
