Normaly the Talk about family has the lock funtion, to remove this funtion just press and hold the menu boton for 5 or even 10 seg. You will heard a "beep" and the icon will appear or desappear. Good luck Neto

I have two older Motorola Walkies Talkabout FR60 wont send or receive and a T5820 with the rubber broken off the antenna is is cost feasible to fix or not

I believe for the FR60 walkie-talkies, if they are not sending or receiving, the issue could be related to the antenna, battery, or internal components. You can try replacing the batteries and/or antennas to see if that resolves the issue.

As for the T5820 walkie-talkie, if the rubber on the antenna is broken, it's likely that the antenna itself is also damaged. In this case, you can try replacing the antenna with a new one. Antennas are typically available for purchase online or at electronics stores.
In terms of cost, repairing older walkie-talkies like these may not always be cost-effective. If the repairs are extensive or require replacement of major components, it may be more practical to purchase new walkie-talkies instead.
Below are options of the options of walkie-talkies you can buy;

How to find someone using a wallis talkie

Program your existing walkie talkie to a common frequency with no PL code turned on and listen for activity. If you are using a TalkAbout or other FRS radio you should hear activity on one or more channels if you are in a city.
Best regards.

Is Bell South walkie talkie compatiable with other

Some number their channels differently, but all FRS/GMRS radios operate in the same mode and will have at least some frequencies in common. Check the channel/frequency lists for both radios and you'll be able to talk to each other.

What is the range of the Motorola walkie talkies? T 4500 and the T6550?

Height and placement of the antenna determines range.
Typically speaking a handheld radio will get up to 2 miles line-of-sight. If you are talking in and around concrete, brick, metal, or in-and-out of a building you could expect only 1/4 to 1/2 mi. Conversely, if you were on top of a mountain and you could see 25 miles into the valley, you could talk as far as you could see with no obstruction.

All this being said, there are some things you can do to make certain you get the best range out of your radios. First, always hold the radio upright with the antenna perpendicular to to the ground (straight up). Tilting your radio to the side can reduce your range by as much as 2/3s. Second, face the direction you are talking. Lastly, wear the radio higher on your body with the antenna upright. Height and placement determines range. (Keep in mind, even your body fluid will absorb part of the range.)

You will find the manual here. The radio is part of the 280 series radios, so there is a general manual on all in that series.
