Won't read Nero 7 Installation CD

I installed the DVD drive, but it won't read the installation disc. It says "d:\is not accessible. Incorrect function". The drive will play DVDs, CDs, and pre-burned DVDs, but it won't burn, (same message appears)and won't let me access any files. I've tried to change the 'Autoplay' and uninstall/reinstall the drivers but had no luck. I'm not an expert, so layman's terms would be appreciated. Here are some of my specs to the best of my ability: Windows XP SP2 384 MB of RAM Pentium III 930 MHz I'll gladly send more info if needed. Thanks!

Firstly ensure the drive letter is correct for your dvd drive, if you still have an old drive fitted as well this new one the drive letter will probably be E:\. It may be that the bios is not seeing the correct dvd drive. On boot up press F2 or DEL, this will take you to the 'standard cmos settings' line. Highlight this line and press enter. You should then see a list of drives attached to your pc, normally pressing F3 or a similair command(depending on motherboard it will tell you how to do this on bottom of screen) detects all drives. Otherwise go to each line Pri, Sec etc, and press enter on each to see what appears. When you see your dvd drive is recognised, press F10, this will save and force a re boot. Also try right clicking on your DVD drive and go to properties, there should be a tab saying enable writing on this drive, but be cautious as Windows Writing programme may take over from Nero. Please rate solution

Just to add your processor may be a little under powered for writing dvd's and most certainly you will need more RAM.

Also ensure that you have atleast 10GB of hard drive space available for the programme to cache the files before burning to DVD.

I have the same Samsung Multi DVD Recorder as it calls itself and it works OK with XP for me. You probably need to install the Nero software that came with it as it normally contain the hardware drivers that are needed. Sorry if I'm too late with this reply but I only just came across your post.

Nero 7 essentials disc but when i try to install it it comes up with message this version dose not support vista

Windows Vista is supported by Nero 7 since the version Nero 7.5.7.0.. Older versions of Nero 7 do not support Windows Vista. If you are trying to install Nero 7 from your original disc it is likely that there is an older version included on this disc. If you want to install Nero 7 on Windows Vista please be sure that you will only use latest Nero 7 version, you can download from the below website. Also please be sure that there won't be any rests of old Nero 7 versions on your system by performing the following steps:

    1.
Start uninstalling all old Nero 7 applications and files from your computer using the Nero 7 CleanTool

Download the Nero 7 CleanTool using the following link:
Save this file to your desktop.
Unzip the ZIP-file with WinZip or WinRAR and save the content to your hard drive.
Double-click on the unzipped EXE-file to start the CleanTool.
The window “Nero General Clean Tool” will open. The installed Nero version will be displayed.
Activate the checkboxes in the displayed Nero version.
    Then click the “Clean” button.
    A status window will open.
The execution of the tool may take several minutes.
Please wait until the progress bar has moved completely to the right.
In the window “Nero General Clean Tool” click the “Exit” button as soon as the erasing procedure is completed.
    Reboot your computer.
The Nero 7 CleanTool has removed all Nero entries from your computer.

    2.
To install the latest Nero 7 version, please proceed as follows:
(Note: do not install a previous Nero 7 version from an installation CD now, but download and install the latest version of Nero 7 from our website. All Nero 7 download versions have the full range of functions as an original Nero 7 installation CD. There is no need to install a previous version of Nero first.)

Download and install the latest Nero 7 version from website using the following link:
Save this file to your desktop.
Double-click the downloaded Nero 7 installation file to start the installation.
Enter your Nero 7 serial number during the installation to make your Nero into a permanent version. (The download without a serial number is a trial version only).
You now have a newly installed version of Nero 7 on your computer.

    I can't write DVD with my Pioneer DVR-107D DVD±RW

What brand of media are you using?

You are burning at 2x because that is the highest that this drive supports.

You would also want to instruct Nero to Verify by ticking the check box and either finalize disc or make it mulitsession, if your burner supports multisession DVDs

    Regards,
