Question about JVC Everio GZ-HD7 Camcorder

Jvc hd7 : connected to tv with hdmi : no audio

Hi,

When I connect the Jvc Hd7 to my Lcd TV, thru a Hdmi Cable, I can see the video perfectly, but I don't get the audio.

I tried locating any option in the Hd7 menu on Audio with Hdmi, but there isn't any. However, when I burn a Dvd with the Vu40 burner, and play it, it plays both audio & video.

What should be the problem? I would appreciate your help in understanding the issue.

Otherwise, I find the Jvc Everio Hd7 to be one of the finest HD Camcorders in terms of Hd Video Quality, and I'm proud of my eqpt.

Thanks for helping me.

SOURCE: my mac OS 10.5 driver (disc) for Everio GZ HD7 camcorder?????

Hey Brett, unfortunately FCP and iMovie are looking for a device over Firewire or a capture card (whichever you have set up). The driver off of the disk is actually quite useless under any Mac Os 10. Video editing programs unless older or PC based rarely use USB for video transfer hence why none of the apps are locating the camera. Unfortunately you'll have to transfer the files via USB as data and use a program like MPEGStreamclip to transcode them to a file format those programs will understand. JVC has released updated software but it seems to do nothing at all. I hope this helps.
P.S. you may need the MPEG 2 Codec to do the conversions wether you're using MPEGStreamclip or another application.

SOURCE: I have a JVC HD-FH96

It sounds like it may be either the HDMI port on the TV that has an issue, or the HDMI output port on the Dish Network box. Do you have another HDMI device that you can try in that HDMI 1 port on your TV? HDMI should be very easy to use, you should be able to plug it in, switch to the HDMI input on the tv and it will pick up and adjust to the signal. Even if it was at an unsupported resolution / screen size it would at least have sound. There is definitely something going on with one of the ports... you need to determine which. Hopefully it is the dish network box as they should replace that for free.

It could also be the HDMI cable now that I think of it, do you have another HDMI cable you could test with?

Thanks, let me know!

No optical output except when using ipod dock on tv

Unfortunately, there is a limitation on the JVC LT47P789 digital optical audio out. This audio output does not get the signal from any HDMI source. This is described on page 49 of the user manual. The manual is available from JVC here: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/14/YA653ien.pdf . There is a similar restriction for the analog audio output from the TV with the HDMI inputs.

If you use the component audio/video inputs on the TV from your set-top cable box and DVD player, then the optical audio output will work. Otherwise, you need to find a way to connect the audio directly to the receiver. Some receivers have multiple HDMI input ports. These then forward the video signal on their HDMI output to the TV. Another option is to connect the analog audio outputs from the cable box and DVD player to the receiver. This may require resetting the Audio output from these set-top boxes to keep from sending the audio over the HDMI cable. With the Cinemate, you might need some sort of audio input switch or an HDMI converter and switch that separates the audio from the video signal.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your devices for ideas on how to work-around the problem with this JVC TV.

No sound when I play back using an external micropohone however when I play back on the TV full sound. Any solution?

Microphones are input devices; they don't double as speakers. If you mean that a stand-alone set of speakers do not work, but the internal speakers of the tv do let you hear the audio track from the camera. Then I have a couple of different suggestions: 1) make sure the stand-alone speakers work with other input sources, 2) try a different cable (make sure it is connected properly).

Also how are you connecting to the different devices? The video camera has an HDMI port which will send audio and video to the TV on one cable. If you are using the RCA audio in both cases, then I suspect a problem with the external speakers.

If you mean that the audio track is clear on play-back when you use the built-in microphone during the recording and not heard if the external microphone, check the external mic for problems. Try it on another recording device. I can't rule out a jack failure without more information.

I hope this helps.

Jvc hd7. there is "one" pixel "dead".

I don't know if its from the CCD or from your LCD Monitor. CCD dead pixels can be fix but you can't do this at home, need service center because first you gonna need Service Support Software, second you need connecting cable(QAMxxx) and (YTUxxx) Jig. Sorry

I just bought a JVC THD50 surround sound system. I want to hook up the system to my television and cable so when I watch cable I can hear the surround sound. I bought a digital optical audio cable and...

See below for the correct setup to get the best clarity sound possible.

From Set top box:
  1. Audio: optical or digital coax cable output --> jvc system Input
  2. Video: hdmi output--> jvc system input
From JVC System:
  1. Video: HDMI output---> TV HDMI input
TV:
  1. only accepting HDMI input from JVC System.
This will provide you will sound from your jvc system at all times. Your JVC system is made to be used as a hub. So essentially what you are trying to do is connect all components into the JVC system. Then only connect the video portion to your TV. The TV itself should NOT be emitting sound.

Note: You may need to turn off the speakers in the TV setup menu to acheive no sound from the TV. This will make for the ultimate experience.
