TV won't show any picture or color

We were watching a show and heard a loud pop and smelled a burned elect. component then the screen acted up and the Tv turned off on its own. I could not turn it on anymore, i hear it click like its turning on and a red light near the power button comes on but theres no picture or color what so ever. if its left on like that for a while, a heavy burnt smell is detected. does anyone know what might be the problem and what i can do to fix it?

1St. need to konw how many times the light bilks, it sould bilk a # of times then a short pause then repeat the # of bilnks again & again. The number of blinks is a an error code to help locate the cause of a fault. it is not allways accurate, but it's usually right. give the # of bliks & i will try to get you into the right circuit.

well if the bilnks have no pattern it will make it harder, since you hear a pop & had a smell the best thing is to start loking in the tv for a blown part. I would start by looking at the power/voltage reg. board. typicaal the "G" board in a sony. look it over well. once you find the blown part try & get the location # of the part. Isuspect it's propablly a transistor or a capacitor. transistors will start with a "Q" for a location caps start with a "C". if you find a blon cap the top will be bubbled or swolen. ( the top will be rounded instead of flat.) if its a transistor it could have blown off the fron of the part, easier to find or could have made a minor crak, alot harder to locate. lastly, if you can smell it getting hot, it may help you isolate where the bad parts are.
    good luck.

Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV popped, bad picture and vibrates

The pop was a high voltage arc of electricity that blew some vital components on the main circuit board. The unit is of no use now. Repairs are far more than replacing the TV.

I was watching my Hitachi 42hdm12 and heard a pop and now the picture won't show up or sound or anything?

A pop is usually a power surge and you blew a board. If you take the tv apart, if this is it, it will be evident by the burn marks. You could have burned out the internal power supply as well.
