Won't print in black.

I have an HP882c Deskjet printer that I've had for quite some time. I have have several black cartridges and a color one that I purchased for it. For that reason I hate to get rid of it. The other day I noticed that the black ink (text) started to look a bit gray/green. When I tried printing in b/w mode I got nothing but a few dots on the paper. I have since cleaned the contacts, swapped out the cartridge and still in b/w mode get just a few dots. In color mode it will print color and the text, however text is graying/green I think that may be the printer mixing all the color to give me the gray/green color I was experiencing. I have also tried the self print not connected to the printer and achieve the same result to no avail. Please help, as I said I hate to get rid of it because I probably have $100 in cartidges for a printer worth nothing!!!

Hp 4480 how do you unpause it

The HP F4480 likely has a malfunctioning ink cartridge which is causing the printer hang (i.e. internal micro-electronics damage inside the HP 60 color or black ink cartridge). You can verify the electrical condition of both HP 60 ink cartridges by activating the Tap 41 diagnostic test report (see video here for complete instructions):

http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
1.While holding the Power button, press Cancel (X) button 4 times, then press the Color Copy button once.
    2.Release the Power button.
3.The 'Tap 41' diagnostic test print should print.

Providing the color cartridge is partially functioning the Tap 41 diagnostic test print will be printed (this is a forced service print test which is mainly used for the evaluation of ink cartridge electrical health). A good HP 60/60XL color cartridge should display 1248 good nozzles, while a good HP 60/60XL black ink cartridge should show 336 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. Refer to 2nd video on how to read the printout.
    http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440 (HP 60 - Deskjet F2400/F4400/F4500 models)
    http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=444 (HP 60 - Deskjet F4200 model)

If the printer attempts to print the diagnostic test pattern (1 page) then the printer is generally considered operational and functional, if nothing is printed, but the printer attempts to print the pattern, then the tri-color ink cartridge is either empty, clogged or severely electrically damaged (black ink cartridge is not used). You can remove the tri-color cartridge, reactivate the tap 41 test and the printer will print the diagnostic test print in black ink.

HP 722C has quit printing black in color draft

WORKAROUND: Select EconoFast or Draft as the print quality setting in the printer properties. This will prevent the color cartridge from being used. - Or - Try another color cartridge. The color cartridge is used to print grayscale images in Normal or Best print modes, so if one color has run out, the printout will have the wrong tint. With a full color cartridge, the colors can be properly combined to create a composite black. CAUSE: When printing with Normal or Best as the print quality setting, the HP Deskjet 710C or 720C or 722C series printer will use the color ink to improve print quality output, even when printing a grayscale image.

Have you check your color cartridge if they are properly installed.

Make sure your are not using a refill cartridge.

Replace your tri-color cartridge with original an HP tri-color cartridge.

HP deskjet 2460 will print black on test page but not on any other document. Have changed cartridges twice, aligned and cleaned several times. tried the holding on of button in with pencil and opening and...

Go to printer settings/options and navigate to the color tab. See if you can find a setting which allows the printer to use only color cartridge, change this setting to use both cartridges.

My printer wont print in color & its a new color ink cartridge

have the printer preferences been changed accidentally to print in greyscale? Is the cartridge installed correctly? Now and again if the cartridges are opened and not installed straight away the ink dries up in the nossel and clogs the printer head, easily rectified with some cleaning solution. Cartridges also go out of date. hope this helped
