You probably have some other issue with the machine if it won't stop, but the machine may also not be spinning the mat out because the load is unbalanced. If you put it in on spin only, watch to see if it actually spins up to speed or not. You will see it rotate the drum back and forth a couple of times - it is sensing the weight of the load and trying to balance it. I the machine can't balance it, it will never spin up to max speed. If this happens, put a few other items in the washer with the heavy item (they need to be of similar weight - like some towels or a heavy jacket or something) and try again. Good Luck

Sounds like it may be a timer issue. Prior to this, have you had any other issues or error codes displayed?
My problem turned out to be related to a mat that refuses to dry. I guess the dryer interpreted it as 'still ful of water' so it kept trying to drain.
I powered off at the switchbox of my home and it eventually released the door.
