Used wrong power adapter for HP Mini 311. Only in for approx 30 sec. Did smell burning but mostly the adapted. Found correct one and now I have blinking green light but nothing else. Won't power up. Thx
Re: Used wrong power adapter for HP Mini 311. Only in for...
Try with the battery removed, you may have fried the battery if the voltage on the wrong adaptor was too high. The fact that you have a blinking Green light is a good sign, it means you haven't killed the onboard power distribution system. I hope this helps.

Here are some steps that can help you resolve the issue.
First, try removing the ac adapater and the battery and press and hold the power button for about 10-15 secs to remove the flea power. Then try to deattached the power cable and the power brick and attach it again properly, plug it to the computer without the battery and try to turn on the computer. If still the same problem try a good known power socket, if your using power strip try to plug it directly to the wall socket. If nothing works, try a good known ac adapter, or try you ac adapter to a good known working computer. If a good known ac adapter didnt work, contact HP as this is a power supply issue on the computer (power supply are mostly attached to motherboard for portables) contact HP to check your warranty and have it serviced. If the good known ac adapter works, contact HP to check the warranty and have the AC adapater replace or simply replace the ac adapter.
Connecting a power adapter with the wrong voltage or current can be
deadly for most electronics, and especially "sensitive" ones, such as
laptops... If I were you, I wouldn't take the risk - and change the
whole system board!
remove the battery and adapter. press power button for 30 sec. then connect the adapter. press power button. if this didnt work. you need to ask for an help of a local tech to check for the video card and cable.
Remove the battery and the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 30 secs. Put back battery and plug back AC then power ON as normal.------
Also try with ONLY battery (AC removed) and vice-versa.--
Basically I would check output of my AC adapter first. If everything is OK with that, I will check the power button.----This will help. Thanks please keep
updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
