Sounds like a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure. I have a text file called "doorsw.txt" which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems, and a file called "safety.txt" which is of vital importance. You can find these files by searching at Yahoo.com (not Google) for this: microwave display safety.txt In some cases, the problem is a bad connection or a bad relay on the control board. That's something we see from time to time, and we repair those nationwide, but it's usually a door switch. If you still have a problem, please write back with more detail. Be safe!

My microwave is not heating food although everything else seems to be working. What do you think is wrong? Would this be a costly repair?

Sounds like the magnetron tube has burned out so you don't get power. It's the heart of the microwave. Time to shop for another, not worth repairing.

Does not heat anymore, power is going to unit, the clock, and fan work, light still works but it will not heat and makes a low growling sound when we try to run it. Help!

What you are describing is a problem with the magnetron and it has become faulty, that is the main part that heats the food, the growling sound indicates it is loading down the power transformer that energizes the magnetron. The repair cost will not justify the expense "costly" replacement of the microwave oven "cheaper" in the long run.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

Sounds like the problem is in the high voltage. Most common would be magnatron, capacitor and diode. For safety reasons this should be checked by a professional. Look in your owners manual because some high voltage parts have a longer warranty than 1 yr.

No heating, no clock, no timer, otherwise fine!

One of your door interlock switches is defective . I would suggest having it repaired by a qualified repair tech in your area.
