Picture horizontal problems

The picture squeezes from the bottom up. This results in a distorted picture. Sound and color are fine. Are there any horizontal controls? Is there some way I can adjust the horizontal/vitical for the picture or should I call a repair man?

You have a problem in the vertical circuit. You will need to take the set to a repair shop for service.

There is a sevice menu but it is something a repair man has to adjust. Even to get to that menu is a matter of procedure. If the picture is not always squeezed down then adjustment is not the problem. If it is intermitant it could be a bad solder connection on the main board.Sometimes a bad vertical ic and leakey capacitors can be the problem..
Bottom line is there is not much you can do to correct the problem. You are going to need a service man

Screen stretched out horizontally and distorting picture. None of the settings buttons appear to solve this. I can shift the image vertically or horizontally; but not squeeze it horizontally.

There are adjustments in the size of the items on a screen under the screen properties, settings. If you right click on the desktop screen and then properties you can get there. There is at least one size which causes a distortion of images being displayed. This may be your problem.

I have a Samsung HCM5525W that distorts horizontally across the top and bottom after it has been on about 15min. Center of picture is fine.

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Color/graphics distortions quickly degraded to no picture

This is what you will get right before the 1 red ring shows up on # 4. Do the X-clamp fix. Trust me it works.

Dvd playback

Maybe it's something with picture settings, i.e. NTSC/PAL or INTERLACE/PROGRESSIVE SCAN.
