Direct Code Entry
Code Search Method.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

While this isn't really a solution, I have the manual and it doesn't list an Emerson DVD/VCR (EWD2204) that I have. I can't get it to work with my VCR. I bought the RCE Universal remote (RCU703SP) at Lowes (in 2008). I can't help but notice that the date on the package is "2004 Thompson, Inc." I know that the DVD/VCR is newer than that. Perhaps this remote is a bit old (explains why it was cheap?) Anyway I did find a site that you can get the codes like in the instructions: http://remotefinder.rca.com/default.aspx?site=rca so hope this helps.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control (TV, VCR, SAT, DVD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. The remote control is in programming mode.
3. Press POWER button on remote and release . The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power scan mode.
4. Press CHANNEL+ or CHANNEL- repeatedly until the device turns on.
