eight blinks means, "High-voltage error" and the probable cause location listed is, "T8005 is faulty (D board)". T8005 is the fly-back transformer assembly.

SOURCE: sony kp-51ws510 tv blinking light 6 flashes on timer/standby

6 blinks on your model means the +5V line is either overloaded or shorted on the A or B board. You can get replacement boards at the following link and they will assist you in determining which board of the two you actually may need.

The tv is in shutdown protection due to overdriving video signal. If you are handy you can pull the front cover off and there are 6 controls on a HV block. 1 set says focus, do not touch those. One set says screen. One at a time turn them down, counter clock wise putting each one back where you found itTurn the first one down and then turn the set on. Do this for each untill you get a picture. You will most likely find a bad blue gun. You can also remove the board from each gun 1 at a time with the set unplugged and find the shorted gun. good luck.

Sony KP-51WS510 51 in. Rear Projection Keeps blinking 5 times. The red and green projectors are working fine, but the blue is not working. Sears service replaced the power supply, and the first board, then...

You may want to recheck your connections coming off the blue tube to the board. Also check the IC links/Pico fuses on the power board. I have a repair manual for this Tv if you need it. [email protected]

FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about
30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with
the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C
board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking,
try turning up screen slightly.
