My washer will only spin on the presoak cylce .. it will not spin during any wash cycle .. the machine runs through the cycle (the dial rotates) but the tub will not .. anyone have any ideas ?? anyway I can fix this myself .. easily ???
We have owned a MAV4755AWW washer for about 2.5 years. A local appliance company that has been around for a long time gave this model to us as a replacement for the last Maytag washer we bought from them that only lasted about 1 year before having serious problems. Anyway, our washer agitates but the drum won't spin. I spent several hours on Sunday. Removed the drum to verify that there wasn't any obstructions between it and the plastic tub. Replaced drive belt as it was slightly worn. However, I noticed the motor pulley was loose. I applied tention to the motor and belt and tried to tighten the locking nuts. They tighten but would not hold the motor in place (hold belt in position with the proper tension). Took the front cover off and I'm convinced the spin problem is the enclosed brake assembly located under the drum. The repair person above most likely was correct and was honest - it would cost too much with parts and labor to fix it. The repairman had to replace the brakes or brake assembly on the last Maytag we had for 1 year and he was at our house for awhile doing it. I have had it with Maytag washers. Our first one lasted over 10 years so I thought I could rely on buying Maytag again. They have lost my business. They are no longer quality washers. I will now buy another quality name brand. Also, I'm so mad about losing $500 that I will say the local store is in Marysville, CA. Only one well known store if you are from this area so buyer beware.

Washing machine water will not come out

Sounds like you have a timer problem. Insided these timers are small switchs called contacts. These can sometimes get burnt, and wont function properly, especially if one cycle is constantly used for laundry (not your fault, just wear and tear is all). These are somewhat easy to fix, most just have one plug to plug and unplug, and removal of the rear of the dash is all. The timer knob cover just pops off (cap in the middle) then drop timer out. Problem is these timers are not to cheap in price. The timer number for this unit (I believe) is 21001701, and runs about $100. Please, check E-Bay for these parts, they usually are way cheaper and even though they may be used, they still carry the same warranty normally as the new ones, for half the price. Good luck, and let me know if you need further help.
