Question about RCA F36649 36" TV

1 Answer

TV is on and just suddenly starts changing channels

When the above happens you cannot make it do anything with the remote or manually. We have unplugged it for a couple of hours and then it worked for awhile, but it starts right back doing the same old thing.

The switches in the front of the tv are usually the cause of this kind of problem. the fix is to replace all of the switches, because if 1 is bad the others are not far behind. each switch from rca is $5 to $10 each. good luck.

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX50u that suddenly is stuck on one channel and no volume control either. Same whether using remote or on TV. Only turns on and off no other control.

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. Look for any loose contacts in RC jacks/sockets/Cable. Look for jammed buttons on remote and/or on control panel. Try removing the batteries from remote and operating from the control panel of TV. If these are ok, Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Same problem as above.Disney p1310ATV lost the remote. No Phone # in orginial manual.Television system NTSC (American TV Standard) I have tried other universal remotes also I have a Sony RM-V210 universal...

there may be a problem with the tvs remote sensor. most universal remotes you dont even have to enter any codes you just have to follow the same steps to enter the code but instead of entering a code all you have to do is press the channel up button after following all other steps, just keep pressing up until it turns the channel on the tv then press enter or similar button after it changes the channel and this should lock in the code without entering a specific code.And if all other remotes only half the buttons work on if it happens with every universal remotes then it probably a problem with the remote sensor or the tv . Good luck too ya!!!

My universal remote went out and somehow the tv-a Sansui-got switched from channel 3. How can I get it back to channel 3 so the converter will work? I tried changing channels manually at the tv but it...

Look in the owner's manual for instructions on having the TV scan channels. Make sure the converter is on before starting the scan. If that doesn't work, you'll have to buy or borrow a universal remote to take care of it (enter 3, 03 or 003 on the remote control). This will happen every time you remove power to the set, whether it is unplugged or you have a power failure, so start saving up for a new remote control.

My samsung tv is not responding to my remote control, actually even when I go and attempt to change the channel from pressing the up/down buttons on the tv it won't respons, some menu screen would come on...

your turning section is not responding to any input, hence needs to be checked by a technician. every thing you have mentioned are controlled by one ic, with its respective voltages.

Suddenly cannot record DVD after years

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response. Your concern was just brought to my attention.

To your recording, based on your second posting (and would appreciate corrective information where applicable), your system is:
  • Cable provider > Cable Decoder Box > Panasonic DMR-E75V > TV (equipment setup)
  • single coaxial cable > yellow, red & white > yellow, red & white (wiring setup).
With your indulgence, a couple clarifying questions:
  • to watch the Panasonic when you play DVDs, to what channel or source or setting must the TV be set to?
  • to record a TV program/channel, to what channel or source or setting must the Panasonic be set to?
  • what is the brand and model of your Cable Decoder Box?
Initially, pls try:
  • play any known good DVD disc/movie. power on the TV and set to watch said movie;
  • without changing anything on the TV, STOP the playing of the DVD;
  • try changing channel on your Cable Decoder Box's remote;
  • pls post back result(s); or
  • do the above steps again but before changing the channels on the decoder box's remote;
  • try changing/cycling through the different input/source of the Panasonic DVD;
  • again post back result(s).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Tv turns on manually, but auto flips through channels and you can't use remote

Found this in another forum (www.hometheaterspot.com) and it fixed my remote problem:

"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."
