Depending on where you live, DVD formats differ from each country. Generally speaking, a DVD disc released in a country which adopts NTSC television system couldn’t be recognized and played back by DVD player where the country adopts PAL television system. Unless the DVD disc is region free, most DVD players could only play back DVD discs released with the same television system. Here is a post that would introduce detailed information about NTSC and PAL, ways to play back NTSC and PAL DVD discs, and solutions to convert NTSC to PAL DVD and create PAL DVD disc out of videos: http://www.leawo.org/tutorial/ntsc-to-pa...Depending on where you live, DVD formats differ from each country. If the set have been aimed to work in US only, there will be no set-up switch or any such. If the set is a multi system one (you can get this detail by its user manual_specifications), it can be used with PAL too.
aoconnor733,
It looks like you've run into a problem with the way TV signals are formatted around the world.
Unfortunately there isn't just one standard, but three!
Even worse, the standard used in the US is not the same as the one used in Germany and they're not compatible.
However all is not lost as NTSC-to-PAL and PAL-to-NTSC converters do exist. You're probably best advised to visit your local electronics retailer (Best Buy or equivalent) and ask them to help you find something that's most appropriate for your audio-visual (AV) set-up.
Failing that, type "NTSC PAL Converter" into Google Shopper and see what it suggests.
Kind regards,
Talyene
P.S. If you're interested, you can learn about the different standards by clicking the links below.
[Germany - PAL B/G] ' [USA - NTSC M]
You are quite correct. Germany is PAL and USA is NTSC a totally different colour processing is carried out with Pal. It is always a shame when one goes to the expense of bringing an item that is much treasured to another country. No good news I am sorry to say as I am not aware of a convertor at the moment however, you may find that a device called a Copy Mate will do it. It strips the video from the source and re builds it in a format of your choice. Have a look at http://www.copymate.eu/ Hope this helps.
The systems are different. USA is NTSC at 60Hz Germany is PAL on 50Hz You need a DVD player that will produce simple PAL from an NTSC Disc. Grundig used to produce them as did Thomson. Have a look on line, that may be your best and cheapest option. Hope that helps.
There should be an output option that you change to NTSC (on your external tuner), Dvr's are pretty "proprietary", and are very sticky about accepting non-proprietary signals. For instance, a sattelite dish dvr, will not accept these inputs, nor will their hard drives re-format or zero out.
I just found the way to change the setting from PAL to NTSC.
While the unit is turned off , press the EZ View button on the remote control. Press alternatively the select between the PAL or NTSC setting on the unit display. That's it.
Hi, I am afraid this reply is too late, but if you happen to stop by the site: The set has a built-in NTSC tuner, with no PAL tuner, as it is advertised in the US. So the answer is: No, you can't do PAL.
But if your manual says it has the PAL tuner, then you should be able to find a switch on the set or a button on the remote to change over to PAL.
is your tv is the same tv that u playing before? coz according to you if u play ntsc there is no problem. if ur tv is multisystem, u can change the tv system menu to auto, but if not u cannot watch coz ntsc tv only accepts ntsc signal.
