Nike Watch not getting signal from fotpod

I had the same problem - replaced the battery of my Nike Triax Fury and the time was blinking and none of the buttons were working. Turns out that you need both springs placed in the proper spot - the silver and gold springs. Both springs can be placed in their proper spot with the batter in. The gold one goes in the tiny hole near the "view" spot, and the silver spring goes year the 'cage' that holds the battery in place accross from the gold spring. You can't change it yourself without doing damage. You will need to send into Nike or more accurately an authorized nike watch repair center that is close to you hopefully.

Nike customer service or a google search for authorized nike watch repair in XXX-city will get one close to you.

I had to take the following steps to get it to work in Windows 7 after running the setup executable under the Comments in the Windows row from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

1. Open up Device Manager, right click on the Triax Elite and select Update Driver Software.
2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" in the window that pops up.
3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4. Scroll all the way down the list of "common hardware types" to USB controller.
5. Choose FTDI from the list of manufacturers and choose the "USB Serial Converter"
6. Confirm that you know what you're doing and want to install this driver.
   

Windows then finds another Unknown Device which is the serial port. Repeat as above but choose Ports for the common hardware types and then FTDI and "USB Serial Port".

Afterwards, run the latest Nike Triax Elite software (that you can download from http://www.nike.com/timing/extranet/elite_software/ and it should work.

Press and hold in the mode button the seconds should start to flash.

Press top right button to select hour.

Press set button to advance hour.

Press top right button to select minutes.

Press set button to advance minutes.

Repeat this for the month/dte/dy/yr

Press mode button when done

You must Re-Link the SDM pod to the watch after changing the battery. Go to the link below, It's not the exact model, but, should work, if not, go to www.nike.com and download the manual for your model.

If you can't link the hrm do as detailed in the following link If you press all four buttons of your Nike HRM it will reset. Next time you go to "RUN" mode, it will show "HRM LINK" error. You will now need to "hard reset" the unit. Nike made a late change to add a "hard reset" to the chest strap. To re-link (re-initialise) the watch you'll need to open the battery door on the chest strap, and use a paper clip (or the equivalent) to push the small gold button in the battery area. There should be a small sticker in the battery compartment that points to the reset button. The re-initialisation steps for the Nike C10 and CV10 digital HRM's is: (1) reset the watch (2) open the battery door on the chest strap (3) move the watch to RUN mode (4) press the reset button in the chest strap battery area (5) put the battery back in the chest strap (if it's not already in - it's possible to push the button without removing the battery) (6) hold both of the electrode to create a signal (probably not necessary - it usually links immediately). My suggestion is to use a very thin needle and do it with the battery in the hrm. Eventually, Nike will either eliminate the hard reset or update the manual to include this info.
