I have an ALPS MD-5000 printer that has been sitting unused for about 2 years. I powered it up yesterday, and now get a flashing error light. The error I get says something about the print motor or head being misaligned. (mac) Does anyone know how to fix this... PLEASE HELP... I would love to use this again!
Re: PLEASE HELP! Error Light blinks when powered up!
Inyadrms, Did the printer get hit or bumped around while in storage? The motor and alignment errors are bad. If you are mechanically inclined, remove the cover and look for broken parts or missing teeth on the gears. While you have the cover off, give it a good dusting

Did you pack the printer correctly before moving? When you got the printer, it would have had a packing piece preventing any carriage movement. If you did not put this in place before packing the printer for the move, you have most likely damaged the printer beyond repair.
