The 818 has been the most faithful (and receptive) SW I have had so far, but of late, I cannot power up. When pressing the red power button, I always get a FLASHING "E" on the screen. At first this was only with the AC cord attached. When I disconnected that, and used fresh batteries, it would power up for awhile, but then, I had the same problem, AC or DC, and now I have a useless 818. Is this from a faulty power switch? Or possibly something else? Thanks! Dan
It would now make a good boat anchor!!!

I think the E means a dead battery. You could have intermittent solder connection on your DC input jack. This could effect battery operation as well. Check for bad connections and resolder also look for broken traces at these connections. Good luck.
