Light Engine I am being told that the "light engine" needs either repair or replacement. My machine is projecting the typical blue epson screen, but it is intelaced with red lines. Is there anything that can be done to repair this? If so, can I repair it or must a professional take care of it?

Portions of my screen are blue - I am still able to view the entire screen and programs, but there remains a blue section which has grown in size over the last few months. what might the trouble be?

This is a set made by LG who is also Zenith.

This model has a well known history of the optical light engine being burnt which causes the blue to be present in certain parts of the picture.

The lamp shines a very bright light into the L shaped optical light engine---there are lens and partitions inside--blue, green and red and the blue is closest to the lamp and the heat.

There are also at least 2 or more versions of the optical light engine used in this model.

If you do not have an extended warranty----it will cost too much to repair---last one I saw over a year ago the engine sold for over 600 exchange, not counting major labor to replace it.

I do not enjoy giving bad news but I have seen over two dozen sets with the same model number and same problem.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free--I am 100% sure it is the Optical light engine....

Sorry to give you bad news.

There are blue dots all over the screen and a blue tint on the left side of the screen

It is problem of light engine (optics block assembly) in TV and complete light engine will be replaced. It is costly part, check with local TV repair shop for cheap fix if they can.

Hitachi 50V710 Yellow screen

You are correct on the diagnosis of the problem. I would contact a reapir shop and ask them how much labor cost is if you bring them the set and the new light engine.

Zenith D60WLCD with blue haze over entire picture

throw the set away!the part required to repair the set is the optical engine.Zenith made alot of these sets with defective engine assemblies in wich the lcd filters burn, which cannot be replaced. The labor is also silly.Theunitrequires a complete teardown for replacment. You could buy a very nice new set for the repair bill
