Hi, The door to my washing machine is locked and will not open despite trying to resent the cycle and wait for the timer. I've tried every possible combination of on and off and the lock won't release.
Can someone tell me how to release the door lock?
My Zanussi has an outlet filter that is accessible by a little door at the front. It gets clogged if not cleaned for a month or two. Then the machine can't drain and the door won't open. Removing and cleaning the filter should correct the problem. You'll need some sort of container to catch the water that will pour out after you remove the filter.

Hi - I understand that the door won't engaged, however does it show any other symptoms? Try to start a drain spin cycle and let the unit run for approximately 5-7 minutes and press cancel once. If the door opens immediately, unit made have a bad door lock. If you have to wait for the door to release to open, then possibly you have a control or wiring issue.
Have you tried to open it when turned off at power. Wait 5 secs after turning off door release should open. If this does not work, put on a wash cycle, start machine then turn off the cycle and switch machine off. Door should open. Failing this I would say door lock mechanism is faulty.
The machine knows it dint't finish the washing cycle, and, because it may be possible that water is still a lot inside, the door is locked. If you are shure the door can be opened without the water coming out by the door, simply disconnect it from the electrical supply and wait a few minutes until the door unlocks. (you will hear the unlock click)
hi have you tried turning machine off at plug for a min then power back on put on a cycle press start. wait till it starts to fill and press stop and hold down the reset button till it beeps and wait till door unlocks. Or a quick way to open the door is unclip the foot kick stopper at bottom front of machine and pull the emergency door open which is a thing peace of hanging plastic. if none of this works try starting a cycle then press stop soon as it starts to fill and turn off on machine not at plug. hope this helps.
Problem seems to have corrected itself! I tried another slow spin cycle, waited a reasonable interval for the Door Locked light to go off, then when it didn't I switched the power to the machine off. I tried squeezing the door catch a few times and pressing the door downwards, then left it. Some time later when I went into the kitchen the door was open. I washed a small load this morning and the machine worked normally. Fingers crossed, it's ok now.
