No sound My son was watching tv the other night and the sound just quit. We checked all the cables. We have all other sounds through the receiver, dvd,cd,turner(am and fm) but nothing through the cable box. Went and got a new box and still doesn't work. Cable came out said it was the optics cord. Went and got a new one. Still no sound.
I am starting to miss my HD and all my cable channels.
Anybody know if it is anything other than something inside the receiver.
Thanks
Ron
It is possible that the power supply or output stage may have failed in the receiver. I would suggest taking it in to a service center for them to check it for you. They will be able to give you an estimate of the cost for servicing it.

Sir try to check the cables connection at the back of your tv. and if you are using a digital receiver, try to use a dvd to check if there is a sound. If there is a sound the problem is the digital receiver, feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.
I suggest you check the satellite receiver first, you can use the component or HDMI cable for the satellite receiver to check it. If still no sound, the TV main board is defective.
If your remote also controls the Cable Box you might want to look at its audio settings. Maybe you muted it.
BTW: it would be a good idea to also run video and analog audio from the cable box directly to the TV if it has speakers so you can watch and listen independent of the Onkyo.
Is this a new problem or always like this? <<<<<<<<
What is your speaker complement? The center usually carries the dialog.
Are the receiver and its speaker systems set up per the manual? Make it so.
How is the TV-related (Cable) audio entering your receiver? It SHOULD be from the cable box, digitally if available, NOT the TV. You don't need a Low-Fi middleman handling your audio.
Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
have you tried to connect the red white and yellow av cords to another tv? if you have sound on another then its probably the tv you are trying to connect to for your son. If thats the case you could by an rf modulator which converts the red white and yellow to the coax connection in which case you'll have sound.
no sound, everything was working fine the night before. woke up the next morning, and turned the tv on, and there was no sound at all. nothing from the TV, DVD, and nothing from the Computer. Please help. [email protected].
