Hi my Iriver u10 keeps freezing on the opening screen and i have tried reseting it but it just goes back to the same opening screen. I have tried many times to run the battery down and recharge it but still the same. Please HELP
On mine the screen sometimes blanks out. I would be nice if the folks at iriver would be willing to sell just the board, that way an end user could just open it up, replace the board, hook it up to their screen and battery and be back in business.
So I am looking to pick up a cheap iriver u10/clix and one that freezes would suite my needs. So its not a great solution, but you could put your frozen iriver up on eBay and see if someone would be interested in buying it for parts. You probably wouldn't get much for it, but it would be better than nothing. I would leave my email address on here if anyone was interested, but I am not sure if I am allowed to.

I had a similiar problem. Apparently when you download music from limewire etc. and upload the music to your iriver, you can upload viruses also. Limewire is very dodgy for this. I'd say delete those songs that are freezing from your player and computer, they may be infected and causing the freeze.
My screen also froze in the music menu, but when I connected to the PC, it was recognised and I could get into the files. Try resetting it by sticking a paper clip in the reset hole if you've not done it already. Mine's working fine so far....
If your player freezes on "Building Library" (usually a result of putting certain type of .m3u playlists or too big images in id3 tag):
1. Turn the player off - you may need to take the battery out to do this. 2. Hold the menu button in. 3. Still holding the menu button in, press the power button. 4. Keep holding both buttons in until you get a dialogue asking if you want to format internal memory ... say yes. 5. Your internal memory will be formatted and you will now be able to start your X20.
Try to figure out what file is causing X20 to freeze - i've found that pretty much any .m3u file will make it freeze on building library ... only about 2-3 out of about 100 i've tried have worked.
You need to reset and format your player.
To reset your player, just take the battery off for a couple of minutes and then re-attach it.
To format your iRiver, run iriver plus (2) -> Option -> Portable Device Initialization.
Hope this helps!
