Hitachi 42EDT41A I bought a Hitachi 42EDT41A plasma TV over a year ago. The problem that I'm having is that I get sound but no picture. I used to get a "click" sound when I turn on the TV but now nothing happend. I can hear the sound fine. Anyone out there know what it might be or how much it cost to fix the problem?

I have the same problem periodically. The first time, we took the TV into the shop. It worked fine. The fix was - Turn the power button off (it's on the bottom on the right side of the TV) - Turn your cable box off. Let them rest for about 5 minutes. Then power on the TV then the cable box. Works every time for me.

I lost my pic on my 2 yr old 42EDT41A.  They tried to fix it under extended warranty but could not - it tuened out to be the panel which costs about $1200.  Under extended warranty they only originally offered 500 dollars,  I have so far atlked them up to 1k but not done yet.

This happens to me about every two months. I unplug the TV wait 30 seconds and it comes back on. I hope that works for you - it's a much cheaper solution:-)

No Picture on a Hitachi 42EDT41A

Then it is probably not cold solder joints. You wouldn't think that an lcd TV would need a high voltage transformer but it does. They are very small compared to CRT televisions but they power up the screen. Without it you have no backround light to veiw what is there. There are two neon lamps on either side of the screen but they rarley go bad. My guess is the transformer ot the power supply feeding it.

Several runs had bad display panels, but other failures can cause a shutdown condition. There is a fuse in the power supply that must be removed in order to determine the failure by checking voltage at the fuse socket. I suggest you find a local authorized Hitachi servicer to continue. This is not a simple fix.
