Not receiving text messages

Check your message settings, especially the message centre... the phone number of service provider which enable you to send and receive text messages.

Basically an error 097 is referring to your account balance and your probably out of money or only have 10 cents. You need to add more money.

I have been having the same problem since yesterday. When I called VM, there was an automated response saying that they were having some kind of system error.

that is because they have shut ur service off that has happened to me a couple ao times,a nd they will replace it if u ask them to -but i think its like 35 bucks

Setting Message Alerts from page 52 in your manual:
When new messages arrive, you can choose to have your
phone notify you by playing an audible alert. To hear an alert when you receive a new message:
1. Press Menu > Settings/Tools > Settings > Messaging >
Message Reminder.
2. Select On or Off and press .

My LG Rumor won't accept any text messages if my inbox is full. Try deleting all of your messages. Then you can turn your phone on "Auto Delete" so it will automaticly delete some messages if your inbox becomes full.

Sprint has open enrollment for phone insurance...
you could get it and have it repaired or replaced...
seven bucks a month... cheaper than a new phone.

try rebooting your phone 2 to 3 times daily and deleting text and phone calls regularly. this may help your situation. rebooting is taking off battery waiting at least 15 seconds reinstalling battery and powering on... best bet is to delete items then reboot... your problem should go away. unless of course your messages are too large to be sent than that's a totally different issue

Take your battery out, go find something else to do for a while at least 5 minutes (time may be less but why not right?) reinsert battery and see if that works, it did for me

This is a known issue with the Rumor. If you take your phone into a sprint repair center or call technical support, they will most likely repair or replace it for free.
