Sounds like a power supply problem. If you know how to test solid state componets and make voltage measurements. Get a schematic and conferm the power supply is bad and go to this link for your samaung parts.http://www.samsungparts.com/search/search.asp?searchflag=byonemodel&searchkey=HLR5656W&modelid=379072 Good Luck Please dont forget to rate this post.

I turned on my tv this morning and it started smoking and of course smelling like something inside was burning. We took off the back and can see nothing that looks burnt or melted but the tv still wont...

hi,
may be ur tvs lamp side have some problem. may be the lamp over heated and burned. just open its lamp cover ann check it.
also check its power supply input point(near fuse) there is an MOV (used for voltage surge protection) is burned or not. if there is any voltage surge it will get shorted and the fuse will blow off, protect the power supply for any further damage. check the fuse also. if found open then check the MOV. insert fuse only after replacing the MOV.

Why is there white dots appearing on my expensive 61 inch samsung. First it was 2 dots 5 days ago now there are 5 spots and counting.

It sounds like the mirror array is playing up. Maybe caused, as it is mechanical, by dust.
If it is still under warranty, I would have it looked at, if not request a Samsung Authorised DLP Technician takes a look for you. If you are in Europe Samsung may look at it with a view to helping when it comes to repair cost.
Good luck

Samsung 1080i 50" dlp turn

Hello,

The problem might be from the lamp. also, there might be a burnt capacitor on either the power panel or the main panel.

First you need to check the lamp by unplugging the television for about 3 hours then unscrewing it open then assessing the lamp to see if it is burnt, if it is burnt, then you need to replace it with a new one, but if it does not look burnt, then you need to understand that there is a burnt capacitor on either the main panel or the power panel.

To check and replace a bad capacitor, all you have to do is to take a close look at the capacitors on the main panel and power panel, if you see anyone looking swollen, burnt or pressed, then it means it is bad and to replace it, you will have to turn the board to the other side and melt off the tips using a soldering iron, then fixing in a new one and resoldering it back on the panel.

After doing that, your television should be in good condition once again.

Take care and good luck

Television won't turn on at all

if you can look on the boards at capacitors ( do a Google of "blown capacitors" ) and then you will be able to see if there are any blown one's on the boards inside, if so some soldering will be needed to replacce the blown one if you can then the issue should go away. if you can not do this a service center can help complete the repair.
