Before we start, please make sure that you are logged in as the
Administrator of the machine. If you have any Anti Virus software, or
any other software that may interfere with the installation, then please
close it out.
1. Insert the New
"Vista Scan X" software CD, into the CD ROM drive.
If the installation does not start automatically, then please do the following:
- Go to Start
- Click on Run
- Type "D:\VInstall.exe", assuming that "D" is your CD ROM drive
- Now hit "Enter", or click "OK"
2. At this point the Computer will tell you to unplug your scanner if it is plugged in, so please do so and click
"OK"
3. Now select your scanner model
"4450", and click
Install"
4. Now we are going to follow the Onscreen Instructions, so:
- Click "Next"
- Read the Agreement carefully before continuing, if you agree then click "Yes" to proceed with the install.
- We are going to do a Typical Install, so click on "Next"
- And now click on "Install"
- Once the Installation is done, you will have to restart the computer, so click on "Restart"
5.The computer should install the drivers for the device automatically,
if it does not then go to step 14 and proceed with the install. If the
computer does not prompt you, then go to the next step.
6. Now go to:
- Start
- Programs
- VistaScan
- And then click on the VistaScan program
If VistaScan comes up, then do a scan. If VistaScan does not open, then please go to next step.
7. Click on
"Start"
8. Go to the
"Control Panel"
9. Double click on
"System"
(If System is not showing, then click on "Classic View" in the top left corner).
10. Go to
"Hardware" and click on it
11. Now go to
"Device Manager" and open it up.
12. In Device Manager, go to
"Imaging Devices"
13. Right Click on the Scanner listed, and click on
"Update Drivers"
14. Select
"Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", and click
"Next"
15. Select
"Don't search, I will choose the drivers to install." and click
"Next"
16. Now you should have two Astra 4450 USB scanners listed. One driver
is digitally signed and the other is not. Please choose the one that is
not digitally signed, which would be the second option and click
"Next"
17. The computer will now give you a prompt that the software you are
installing is has not passed Windows logo testing, so just click on
"Continue Anyway"
18. Once the installation has finished, just click on
"Finish".
19. Now go to:
- Start
- Programs
- VistaScan
- And then click on the VistaScan program
If VistaScan comes up, then do a scan. If VistaScan does not open, then
