Sounds like a driver or software problem, for a clue as to what it is go to control panel>administrative tools>then click on event viewer.
Look on the system list and and application list for exclamation! marks or a red cross 'X' and click on line right click then properties for a clue.

You cannot downgrade Windows 7 from Windows XP by not reformatting the hard drive. You need to Remove Windows 7 first, before installing Windows XP Operating System. In order to use the Windows XP CD to fully reformat the Hard drive, follow the steps on the link below.
If your system hangs up, instead of re-starting it hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then click on End Program. As far as your Desktop Board go to www.microsoft.com and type in Hardware Compatibility List. There will be a listing of the hardware that is compatible with Windows XP. It may not be compatible that is why it is hanging up.

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista, but you can reinstall your previous operating system, which then replaces Windows Vista. I install the winxp in MS9158E matsonic motherboard and after installation sound card not working. Mean sound not coming and i search the drivers from website but i didn't found the sound driver from web. So, I request you to please help me for download the driver for specific motherboard.
