I agree with Catriver, sounds like the "motor module" needs replacing. I must replace 3 of these a week at least so they seem to only last 2-3 years.

I have a Whirlpool Model GD5YHA. The icemaker is not making ice. The red light is blinking.

Your have not given the full model #. Anyway most likely you have the Ice Maker Optical Level Sensor.

Just red light blinking does not mean faulty here. There is a Optical Sensor check sheet. You have to follow those instructions.

Google "Whirlpool Ice Maker Optical Sensor check sheet". You will get the instruction sheet and/or youtube videos on the subject.

Not making Ice means either the ice maker is faulty or Optical sensor faulty or water valve cannot feed water due to malfunction or line frozen. Also freezer should be below - 12C to ice maker sensor to work.

Your ice maker may be turned off. The blinking light is the sensor. The switch is right beside it. Is it in the on position?

The ice maker isn't working...it doesn't make ice and the red light is blinking. I changed the filter and I am getting water thru the door

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Ice maker is not making ice

Even though the water dispenser is OK you need to make sure the tray(s) in the ice maker are filling. The filter valve, located to the rear of the ice maker can freeze over and stop water flow. Check the supply line for the ice maker, it may be separate from the water dispenser.

Ice maker will not make ice. Red light blinks

I have a kitchenaid with the same problem. Red light blinks twice when open is normal. Hold the flap down and the red light will be on.= normal= optics are working. If the ice rakes rotate, module is probably fine. Check the simplest solutions first, defrost the freezer in case the icemaker water nozzel might be frozen. That solved my problem. I then increased my freezer temp by a couple of degrees and so far, no problems.
Good luck.

Ice maker in our GE profile refrigerator is not working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

Ice maker don't make ice, the three red lights just keep on blink

Hi, The water tray on the machine is probably broken where it connects to the motor. I have the same problem, and am trying to reach Greenway to see if I can get a replacement part. this seems to be a common problem with this ice maker.

Ice Maker

Frig, there is a couple of things you want to check here. First make sure that the fill tube that fills the ice maker is not frozen over. If it is, use a hair dryer or hot water in a baster to thaw it out. Second, check the ejector blades, they should be in the 2:00 position when in standby. If they are in any other position, you probably have a broken retainer clip on the module. The optics check as follows, with the door open 2 flashes with a pause repeatedly. Hold the left side flapper down and the light should stay on steady. If it does this, your optics are good. You can remove this ice-maker by removing the quarter inch screw in back on the right. Remove the harness cover and unplug the harness. The ice-maker will pull straight out. Then you can remove the module cover and check the center gear clips. Catriver..post back
