Question about Canon PowerShot A70 Digital Camera
Hi there, hope someone can help me with this problem. About a week ago I was taking some pictures for Ebay and noticed some 'static' lines, like you get during TV interference, occasionally appearing on the view screen. These also showed up on a couple of photographs. At the same some of the photos came out almost totally black, with the original image of the item being photographed barely visible. Then all of a sudden it returned to normal. Tonight I was attempting to take some more pictures, and suddenly the screen went black. Now it's black with a kind of purplely white distorted blob or thick line when I aim it at a light source. When I zoom in and out the distortion also moves. Any help as to what may have caused this and how it may be fixed wil be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance, SW.
As MrMoMo said, sounds like a defective CCD imager. You may be in luck. Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

Hi, I have exact same problem. This problem started when I used Energizer alkaline batteries first time instead of rechargeable batteries. It looks like CCD problem, but dont know how to fix it. Zahid
