Sounds like your monitor is going bad or your video card inside the computer is going bad.

To test to see if the monitor is going bad, just plug the that jumps into another computer. If it does the same thing, then the monitor is going bad.

To see if the video card in the computer is the problem, just plug another monitor into the computer. If it jumps, then the video card is going bad.

My computer screen keeps jumping or won't stay up

Your laptop screen refresh rate is low (Hertz). When your screen refresh rate is slow, it will flicker and stutter.

To fix this, right-click your desktop, and go to Personalize.
When you're there, go to "Display Settings" and go to "Advanced Settings", on the "Monitor" tab you'll see the screen refresh rate. Change it to the highest number you see.( min 65-70)

Although the change will shorten your laptop battery life, it will fix the problem. Just keep your charger on until it's fully charged, and it should be good.

Dell laptop monitor jumping

Could be your refresh rate. Try the following:
* change your monitors refresh rate to higher availible.
* rt click on desktop then on properties and then display setting and then advance and then click on monitor tab and choose the highest availible and then click ok.

Would also attempt to move the screen forward and back to see if you have a pinched cable.

Also attempt to connect to an external monitor to see if it is your laptop monitor or the video card causing the problem.

Hope this helps.

Screen jumps back to prior screen

If you mean to say that the computer-generated displayed image on your screen changes, it's a function of the computer, not the monitor. If you mean to say that some monitor-generated displayed image is appearing (such as a setup/configuration menu or a splash screen), please tell us more so we can diagnose further.

Screen is jumping and will not stop

If this is an older type cathode ray monitor (CRT) there ahould be a control on the back for "vertical roll" that needs adjustment.

If it's a newer flat panel TFT screen take it to a shop or junk it.

Dell monitor screen jumps and screensaver won't ever turn on.

first turn hibernate off. this is probably causing problem with your screensaver. when you say your screen jumps that leads me to believe that your monitor is probably on its way out. If you can try to hook up a diffferent monitor and see if you have the same results
