Ricoh IS420 has 4 flashing lights

I bought this scanner on Ebay to scan newspaper pages. When I hooked it up, everything worked fine for the first scan. I then moved it to a more convenient position. When I scanned the next several pages, there was a large darkened area at the "top" of the scan. Then, I scanned a page and it was almost completely faded out. Now, it won't scan at all and the 4 lights (2 for ADF and 2 for scanner) just blink--even when I have totally disconnected the SCSI cable. I've tried the reset button and it didn't work.

    Still no help. Reset didn't work. Reloaded and re-connected everything. All four lights are flashing. My manual says that it is s system problem. Worked the other day when I first got it. Help!

    I found the problem. One corner of the ADF was a tiny bit open.

Hi,

1.uninstall and reinstall the scanner driver
2.shutdown desktop and your scanner then turn on it back
3.unplug all its cable then plug it back
If nothing change, try to go ebay service center.

    tried to unistall and reinstall and unpluged then pluged
    Put your printer on a switched cord, then turn the switch off when you're not using the printer.
    it detect anything at boot while the card is searching for devices? you
    might have bent a pin on the connector, make sure its terminated
    properly and the id number isnt the same as the cards.

Try reset the scanner and then try.

    try the following:
    unplug the all the cables and replug.
    reinstall the drivers and software.

    hope this will do some good.. do let me know the status ...thanks...kevin

I have a ricoh 1515 and can not get scan to file to work
You need to tell the machine it has a delivery server, this can be done by selecting user tools/system settings/file transfer/delivery option/On. After doing this you may have to remove and readd the I/O device from within scanrouter.

You need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program such as Textbridge or Omnipage ect. The program should use your scanner to scan and then read the page(s) and save as text.

You must have your resolutions set much higher than the default.
Scanner: Go to "user tools", "Scanner features", "scan Settings", "default Scan settings", "resolution".....set to 200dpi

Fax: Resolution may be set to "detail" or "fine" by default , rather than "Standard" ...is either light lit?
This would dramatically reduce memory capacity.
To set this to default standard resolution is a needlessly difficult task. You can either manually turn it off when sending a fax or change the default "user parameter settings" for the "home position". You can find instructions in the Fax manual (Advanced settings). Download here:

Only scans one page ata a time it says it can't recognize paper for ADF
The bulb has nothing to do with the paper feeder.
Open the door and ther has three or to tires or rubbers so clean them with glass cleaner or 98% alcohol if after that dose not feed again you should replace the feed rubbers
