Have you tried turning off all firewalls you have installed on the computer?
There are times a firewall will block the data from being printed.
You can ping the pinter and otherwise see it, but the firewall will block data.
The second thought is do you have secure print selected?
Make sure BOTH SECURE PRINT and DELAY PRINT are turned OFF after you are sure your firewall is not stopping the print jobs.

try reseting the nvram. if no luck after that try changing the image control board.. with another one if it's avaliable.(maybe you have another machine around. If not then conect your printer to the network reset the printer so you can get an ip address.. usually it's a 192.168.*.* Then type that ip address 192.168.*.* into the top of your web address bar and you should be able to see you printer. If not i would change the image control board because it might be bad.

SOURCE: Xerox 4150 prints from Macs but not from XP

Have you updated the machine firmware? At Xerox.com the machine firmware is there to download and install. Currently the firmeware is at level 10.100.45.018. Even if your machine is new you may have an older version of firmware.
That machine has had tons of firmware updates to it and uploading the machine to the newest level probably will resolve your problem.
There are some versions that fix 300 known problems at an update.
You have to follow the directions carefully, updating it can wipe out your LDAP settings if you use scan to E-mail etc.
If you have a maintenance agreement, or the machine is less than a year old, ( there is a one year on site warrantee on that machine for on site service) call 1-800-821-2797 and request a service call to update your firmware.
Those updates are really critical for that machine to operate properly.

SOURCE: Xerox Phaser 8550 Won't Print

I was having the same problem. Turns out the IP address in the printer was incorrect. Once I changed the IP address the printer works just fine through our network again. Find your IP address off your server and follow these steps:

1. Choose Info on display menu, press okay button
2. Choose Info pages, press okay
3. Configuration pages-printer info, press okay
4. IP address should read: Correct IP Address number should be displayed on screen.

If not follow these steps to change it:

1. Find printer setup on display menu, press okay
2. Go to connection setup-press okay
3. Network setup-press okay
4. TCP/IP setup-press okay
5. Auto should show as “Off”
6. TCP/IP should show as “On”
7. DHCP/Boot should show as “Off”

If any of these are not listed on display correctly press ok, reset to either On or Off and then enter correct IP address.

Press okay button and follow steps on display menu to exit back to main menu display screen.

Printer takes forever to print

How is the printer connected to your computer(s)?
If it is USB or network. Try a different cables.

Does your computer run slow also? Low disk space can cause print jobs to print slowly.

Network issues can cause slow printing as well. If your printer is on network and there is a mismatch of 10/100 Mbps speed or Half/Full duplex, the printing can be slow.

If your OS is Windows, remove the printer from Printers and Faxes. Uninstall the driver package if installed separately. Download the latest drivers and install them and reinstall the printer.

Networked laptop will not print to any network printer. Getting error message that there may be a memory problem or cable problem. Memory is fine and cable are fine. Others in the office are printing fine....

Do you still have access to the Internet from this laptop? If not your Laptop isn't connecting to the network you won't be able to print. Check and see if your laptop is set to DHCP which will automatically assign the correct IP Address to enable your laptop to connect to the local network. If all this is correct you may have to delete and re-install the print drivers for the printers you want to print to.

Networking

It isn't a network printer since it only has a USB interface (no LAN port)
http://www.brother-usa.com/VirData/Content/MFC/ModelBrochures/Brochure_MFC240C.pdf

but you may purchase a print server if you want to share the printing function on your network (only the printing function can be shared). But some multifunction printers do not work with print servers due to driver issues. There are some users on the net who were able to make this work with an IOGEAR multifunction print server.

There is one Brother multifunction network printer that you may want to check:

Fs-3900 intermittently not printing

for FS-3900DN the latest firmware is the one what you have. BUT there is a separate update firmware for the Network Card !!

Check if you have installed the latest print driver in ALL computers and the OS updated with the latest patches.
Q1: The printing issue is consistent when you change computers ? IF yes THEN the issue is within the printer or the network.

Then:
Check if you have same issues when printing using the USB (not the network).
IF is printing OK when you use the USB but you got trouble using the network THEN something is wrong with the network printing so:
-> connect the printer straight to a PC/laptop using a crossover network cable that so you bypass the whole network (LAN) hardware.
--> IF is printing OK THEN the problem is within the network hardware(LAN) - you may try to pinpoint by replacing the network cable between the hub/router and the printer.
--> IF printing using the crossover cable is NOT OK then the problem is in the printer's network card. Check if the jack or the cable fit well into the printer or if the connector is not loose.

IF printing using USB is NOT OK then the problem may be into the printer. Reload the firmware engine and system + network card... it may help.
Q2: When you say: "fails to print unless it's powered OFF / ON" you mean the print job what you sent is waiting into the computer print spooler = the printer is being seen as NOT READY ? or the print job is just missing and you have to restart the printer and after that resend the print job ? ou can chack the printer stat by going to her IP address = open any internet browser and type the ip address. You should see a web page. Check the printer status before sending any print job.

Network Printing Issues

have one too, this happened with an x73 when i upgraded from win98 to winXP, It happened with the X6150 when i upgraded to vista. to correct this problem, Get an HP printer and be done with it. I like lexmark because the ink costs less, but if they do not work, they are of no help, Lexmark needs to invest in engineers to write drivers, they will not do so unless we stop buying their good printes controlled by flawed software. Unfortunately, after having installed the latest driver, from their site, on a computer that had never had a printer installed before and was out of the box with all the windows update, it is a LEXMARK problem. Everything else works fine. LEXMARKS problems continue to be an issue. This is my last LEXMARK.

Printer doesnt print

Make sure the printer is a network printer. Then make sure the network cable is plugged into the printer and the switch box for all the network computers. If your printer is attached to a computer on the network, then that computer works like the server. The computer has to be on for anyone to access it. Make sure you can see the other computer on you network. Then you have to set the printer up on each of the computers. Make sure you you have your installation software.

If this helps you, please rate me. Thanks, Patty
