Question about Ricoh KR-5 SUPER II 35mm SLR Camera

Open Question

I have a Ricoh KR-5 Super II and i have fresh batteries in, the shutter wont fire, the mirror is stuck in the up position (unless i move a lever down which brings it down), the self timer wont engage,

I really want this camera to work. Is the electronics fried? the camera is in great condition. It just seems that anything to do with the shutter cycle is not working. Ive tried taking the bottom plate off and moving the advance lever stop which lets me wind the lever and it advances but when i press the shutter button nothing happens still :\. the Meter also works correctly so i know the batteries are good.

Ricoh kr 5 super ii mirror

There are some wide angle lenses that will hit the mirror and not allow it to move correctly. Wide angle lenses go further back on the film plane, so they can't be used with that camera. Try a Pentax.

Ricoh KS Super II 35mm SLR camera will not advance film and the shutter will not work. i love this camera and hate to throw it away. can i get it fixed somewhere and how much will it cost?

If the batterys are ok ,try rotating the speed control to X and the mirror will unlock from its upper position and the film will advance next time you try. Also the camera will not operate unless the leaver is moved away from its rest position, ie level with the camera body to its first movement area.

Can the 35mm SLR Ricoh Kr-5 Super II camera still work with the batteries dead?

Straightforward answer: no. Everything needs power to work except for the self timer, but even that won't fire the shutter without battery power.

I have a ricoh kr5 and when i take picture the mirror does not come back down and the shutter will not open

The batteries need replacing. Winding the film and setting the shutter is mechanical on your camera, but releasing the shutter is done electronically. Dead batteries cause mirror lock-up.

I am unable to view through the viewfinder. I have taken out the film, and I can even fire the shutter, and the view finder is still black. I removed the lens and the issue is still there. Any help would...

is the mirror stuck in the up position? if so the rubber bumpers have become sticky. try to ( gently ) pull the mirror down it should fall freely, then clean the mirror with alcohol. you may have to remove the foam rubber bumper to prevent the mirror from sticking again. the mirror mechanism will work without the bumper just fine.

You probably need to take the camera in for repair. It sounds like the film transport is not connected to the shutter/mirror cage ***'y.

Sears ks super camera.

You'll have to remove the bottom cover. Either the mirror box or the shutter are stuck. re-cocking it is possible by moving the wind stop clear of the bottom portion of the film advance shaft.

Ricoh KR-5 SUPER II Shutter will not activate.

I doubt you still need help with this considering it's over 8 months later... but the same thing has been happening to me lately, I've had to force the self timer to start by giving it a little push, once it gets going it starts to work normally again.
