Question about ASUS V6800 GeForce 256 Deluxe (32 MB) Graphic Card
Hi, I have a GeForce 256 card also known as a ASUS V6800 deluxe. It has both video in and out sockets. The ASUS Live utility is for displaying and capturing video from an external source. I have Windows 2000 SP4 with DirectX9. I was never able to use it as the install program from the original driver CD aborts with an error. Then I downloaded the latest version of the Live utility V4.6b2 from the ASUS site. At first I could see the incoming video in the preview window. I tried to select capture mode but it gave me the error "Connecting to capture driver occurs error..." (sic) "Please check your capture driver is correclty installed or not, then restart your Windows...". I tried restarting Windows, re-installing ASUS Live, and using the manual Capture Driver install util in the install folder, but nothing helps. Just by the way, the Live utility screen doesn't look anything like the picture of it in the manual! I must say, quality of ASUS documentation and programs are not up to scratch! I thought maybe the card the needs a BIOS update, but the BIOS update utility I downloaded does not run! Error = "Can't open driver service". So does anyone know of any way to fix the capture driver? It also occurred to me that maybe video capture cards have a standard interfdace, so is there perhaps some program (freeware) that can work with the card and allow me to preview the video input and capture it? Any help appreciated!
Sounds like a driver issue. Maybe win2k is not completely compatible with your video card drivers. Win2k is known to have issues with third party drivers.
