1.control panel->system->hardware->DEVICE MANAGER 2.uninstall your driver 3.restart you computer 4.on tray icon a balloon come with a MSG of 'found new hardware' 5.click on it 6.select your driver from it .then select suitable option
if you still have problem buy a you op(win xp,vista,7..).using that disk repair you computer.

I would suggest upgrading the firmware for this particular model. There have been multiple errors with the Lite On drives not reading correctly until the firmware has been updated. This firmware can be obtained from Lite On.

Try this:- Please go ahead and click on start > in start search type in device manager {(in vista ) in case of xp right click on my computer > properties > hardware > devicemanager}.
In device manager click on the + sign beside the cd- dvd > then right click on the driver and uninstall it .
Then in start search type in regedit {(for vista ) for xp in run type in regedit}
Look for some thing like
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then SYSTEM
Then CURRENT CONTROL SET
Then CONTROL
Then CLASS
Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
The whole thing looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then on the right hand side look for something like upper and lower filters and delete the upper and lower filters....
Restart the notebook . It will help

Your CDROM is out. You can get a new one fairly cheap and they are easy to install. The laser goes out fast on the Lite-on's. can be caused by dust or just extreme usage.

You should be install CyberLink PowerDVD Player and than try to play it.

Windows xp does not have a native driver for DVD writers. It always detects them as cdrom.sys. You need to use either the writing software supplied with the drive or Nero or equivalent

Try to check the regional settings of your dvdrw and and make it is set to your region.

These drivers are post-marked from 2004 but are the latest I could find for this model.
