Hi. I have a JVC model GR-D22 and I went to use it this past weekend and when I turned it on to record, all I get on the LCD or the view finder is an image of vertical colored lines. The color changes some as you pan. It's almost like it's really out of focus. I did try manually focusing but nothing changed. I tried playing back the last thing I recordered and that displayed fine so the LCD appears to be OK. When I record new, it records eactly what is being displayed - a bunch of colored vertical lines. Any ideas? Thanks! Chuck
I had this problem a lot on Labtops. The problem is that it has been unliquifed in the screen. This means that the screen has been damaged or has got really hot. Also its has been on for along time. LCDs go bad real quick and can be a hassle when you need the infomation in the thing and have no display. When I had this problem on my labtop, I used the external bay to use another monitor so I can work on it. So I say that nothing can be done to fix it. The only way to see your stuff on there is to use the video out on the recorder and try to check your stuff. That multicolor lines you saw is becoming major right now in LCD displays. I hope this solves your problem.

Please keep in mind that previously recorded stuff looks ok on the LCD and the view finder. Also, recording now captures the lines instead of a good image. Thanks!
I went looking at the other posts for this model and I ran across a problem with a blank screen and followed the posted link to the JVC site for the UK. After reading that, I found a similiar link for the US. I have included it here. Essentially it states that there is a known problem with the CCD's and by shipping the unit to a repair facility that is listed, along with a filled out form, they will repair this problem free until October 2007. There were many other models listed as well. You can check the second link for those. Thanks for everyone's help!

vertical colored lines on the viewfinder. My son insists the last time he had this problem, a friend simply hit a button and fixed it, but he doesn't remember how he did it.
