DVD sound a problem but is playing ok.

DVD is playing ok on machine but sound is nil.

When I play the DVD throught the computer I can hear the DVD.

When I use the TV on its own I can hear TV but when I put in the DVD
there is no sound but I can see a picture. The remote control is working ok. I have changed the batteries as well. I do not think that the DVD is on mute. If it is I can not changed that. It was working ok on Monday. Any ideas would be welcome.

I have used my DVD lense cleaner as well. It made no difference.

I have no sound through my surround sound when playing ps3

The optical audio out from the TV only works for the TV's tuner, probably. Hook-up optical from Cable/SAT and from PS3 boxes to DVD/Receiver.

WHARFEDALE DVD 750 - N0 SOUND ON PLAYBACK

Clean the player with a disc cleaner with a drop of the solvent on each brush on the surface of cleaner CD and play it in the player. If sound quality improves then keep running the cleaner disc till its sound becomes ok. If this does not work then then there is problem on the output amplifier circuit which can be checked out by a professional technician.........sodeep

No hear the sound in ACER 4520

First you just play the songs in VLC player. If sounds comes then ok,otherwise cheack below that i have written......

I think either the (XP)sound drivers doesn't match or the problem in your sound device. So it's better to go to the nearest service station and cheak your laptop. If it is OK then, search for proper sound drivers from them or in google.

When I attempt to play a DVD-R in the DVD player, it goes throught its routine and Oks the DVD. I hit the play button and it starts to play. After a couple of minutes, the become garbled and then quits...

It turns out the I was given the right advice. That the DVD player was not working properly and that it should be replaced. After the chat. I had one of my DVDs ,that was not playing on my friends player, played on one of her friends DVD player that was the same brand and model. It played! That proved to me that my friends DVD player was indeed faulty. She now believes me when I tell her that she needs new equipment!

DVD playback no playback

Sounds like the scart lead is not in straight. Scart connectors have the audio pins at one end, and the video pins at the other. If the lead isn't in straight then you often get sound and no picture and vice versa.

Check the connection by pushing the scart lead in securely. (Both DVD and TV end of the lead)

Failing that could be a dodgy lead.

Compaq DVD Player problem

You need a new DVD codec. If you have a copy of WinDVD, give it an install. Otherwise, try the free codec on www.divx.com.
