As inexpensive as they are, it would be best to replace it. The unit can have a bad laser diode and that causes the action you are describing.

My hisense tv keeps popping up the menu constantly

Probably a stuck button, either the menu button on the set itself is stuck or a menu button on a remote is active. Press the menu button on the set itself and see if that "un-sticks" the button, if it was indeed stuck. If the menu keeps popping up, take the remotes from the room and go back in without the remotes and see if the menu is popping up. Try the menu button again on the TV itself to see if that changes things. If the problem was a remote, perhaps it was laying wrong and depressing a button. Or, a button on it may have indeed been stuck. Bring the remotes back in and see if the menu starts popping up.

E 10 tape deck error/ tapes keep spitting out

The radio checks to make sure the drive capstan is turning - if not, gives the E10 error. Either the drive belt in the radio is slipping or the drive wheel in the adapter is sticking. If it does it with a real cassette, then it's probably the drive belt. If not, you can try to figure out why the wheel in the adapter is not turning freely.

PHILIPS CDRW/DVD SCB5265 ATA Device cannot play most DVDs

I'm guessing you may have locked the DVD region. If you right-click on the device in Device Manager and click the Region tab, does it say 0 changes available? Acer won't fix this, and claim you have to replace the drive. Can't find a firmware flash for this drive online, will post back here if successful!

QPS-525 usb CDRW - quit working. Pwr Supply OK.

Check to see which LED is blinking, the one on the cdrw or the one just below it showing theres power to the enclosure? If theres proper power to the enclosure the green led light below the cdrw should stay solid green. If you have a blinking led light on the cdrw itself, you may wish to disassemble the enclosure and ensure all the short wire leads to the converters pcb are still properly connected and that theres nothing loose. Make sure the IDE cable is properly seated as well as the molex power connector.

A blinking led on the cdrw may signify a problem with the drive itself, since it should not be blinking unless its being accessed by the computer. You could also try reloading the drivers for it whether youre running it on a mac or windows machine. Perhaps change the usb port youre connecting too as well. Before sending the enclosure to the trash, try another cdrom drive connected inside of it. That should be the definitive test to solve whether its the fault of the enclosure or burner itself. Hope these troubleshooting tips help.

Menus pops up

The menu button on the TV itself is bad and must be replaced ( or removed ). Alternatively the whole front button assembly can be disconnected. Just follow the wire back to the main chassis and unplug it.

How can i keep my mp3 on so i can put music and videos on it

Make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged.
Try another USB port.

If that fails:
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Driver problem with DVD/CDRW device driver

Hi sandystell,

Well normally in Windows XP the DVD/CDRW drive won't need anymore drivers, since Windows automatically installs one for it. I assume the problem you're having is that the drive is not able to read CDs/DVDs or burn a disc, correct?

If that is the case you can actually follow this microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B314060

This will give you indepth help on what to do. I would recommend that you do the removal of the upper filters and lower filters in the registry.

You can test if the optical drive works in Safe Mode, by pressing F8 on startup and choosing Safe Mode, then logging into yourr account. See if the disc is read in Safe Mode, if it does, then you have a program that is conflicting with the drive. I would recommend that you run MSCONFIG, goto Startup tab and disable most if not all of the startup items, then click on APPLY then OK.

The next thing is running the diagnostics for the computer to see if there any reported hardware problems. Now if all tests passed, the next step is reseating the optical drive (if possible) check the computer manual on how to do procedure, otherwise you may have to call up Dell Technical Support.

Now you may have to replace the drive itself since it could be defective now.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)
