Question about Kenwood Sirius KDC-MP925 CD Player

1 Answer

Initialization Problem KDC-MP925 in 98 VW Jetta. When the ignition is switched on, the unit doesn't open on its own anymore, the spot on the faceplate needs to be pressed. About 90% of the time, it will open halfway and then stop without powering on. When the SRC or faceplate spot is pressed again, it goes through an up/down in/out cycle and then usually stops again. After repeating the process a number of times, eventually it comes on and works fine. Sometimes during this process, the buttons light up, but there is no display. Sometimes I can remove the faceplate and everything returns to its OFF position with the DSI blinking, sometimes not. All ribbon cables appear to be intact, and I'm fairly sure they're OK as everything works when it does come on. The only thing that acts funny is the up/down panel control. Once it's moved to its lowest position, the up/down won't adjust anymore and will sometimes cause the unit to shut down with everything remaining in the open position. The same thing habbens with a different mainboard, so I *think* I've got it narrowed down to the sub-assembly that is responsible for moving the lower control panel, but I'd like to hear the voice of expreience before I start throwing parts / money at this thing.

92 vw jetta,wont start,runs for3 seconds,when i turn ignition switch on,nodash lights,only battery light appears,no other lightslightup like before,locks work,dont understand what to do now

Is this a 92 Jetta like you describe or a 02 Jetta TDI? If it's a 92 Jetta, I can almost guarantee the ignition switch is bad. Common failure. They're cheap, but require special tools and experience to remove.

1997 vw jetta will not start after battery disconnect

Double check your connections to make sure you have the cables connected correctly. Check the owners manual to see if there is an initialization process you have to follow after connecting the battery. In most VW the connection process recommends connecting the positive then the negative terminal and if that sequence isn't followed it doesn't like to start. It makes no sense but in some cases that is the only way it will work.

My 1998 VW Jetta GL - Ignition Switch

It could just be out of adjustment. I recommend going to a dealership for the part. The VIN number should identify your car specs exactly to avoid getting the wrong part
