Smelly fridge` Hi, My Fridge smells. We have cleaned it out and there is nothing spilt in there it still really smells. It is 2 years old. Could it be the deodriser, how long do they last until you hve to change them?

Hi the smell just appeared over a couple of days at first we thought it was a chicken which seem to lose it freshness but despite removing it and cleaning the fridge you can still smell this smell even when the dooris closed.

Our fridge smells when we open the doors. We've cleaned everything we could reach. didn't smell anything when we pend the back. My wife says it smells like chemical or plastic.

Can you describe the smell or relate it to something common? Plastic, burned wires, fishy, rotted meat, etc. Is it only when you open the door or can you smell it outside too? Are the temps normal in the freezer and refer sections? When did the smell suddenly get noticed?

PUT A BOX OF BAKING SODA IN REFRIGE AND 1 INTO FREEZER ALSO. BUT TAKE EVERYTHING OUT, MAKE SURE NOTHING SPILLED AND IS UNDER A DRAW ROTTING. IF ALL IS CLEAN INSIDE, PULL OUT REFRIDGE IN BOTTOM BACK IS AN EVAPORATOR PAN FOR CONDENSATION, SOMETIMES SOMETHING CRAWLS UP INSIDE GETS TRAPPED AND DIES.

Refrigerator smells horrible , but there is NOTHING spoiled in it.

You might have something smelly in the defrost drain pan. The easiest thing to do would be to take the back off the fridge and see if the defrost drain pan smells bad...if so just clean it out with soap and hot water. don't use anything too strong smelling to clean it though, you don't want your fridge to smell like bleach or pine sol.

did you flush out any drain holes with clorine bleach also if you have a drip tray is that clean.....?

Can you pull out the fridge and check that the plastic power cable has not been pressed against the compressor at the rear/bottom of the fridge?
Usually, overheated plastic cable smells like rotten veg!

How to clean evaporator beko fridge

I've tried to remove but can't. I've now resorted to soaking up the liquid in the reservoir with kitchen roll then spraying with general household cleaner and once again mopping up with kitchen roll. You could try a weak solution of bleach or a mixture of bicarb and water instead of general purpose spray

Hi - we had this problem, and it was in fact where some blood from a defrosting pice of meat drained into the compressor condensation tank and began to decay!

I agree the smell is terrible, so a good clean up is needed but this solves the problem immediately!

Hi, i have the same problem with my Homeking fridge. Because it is a frost free firdge, there is a little resevoir at the back, with a small little tube leading from the base of the fridge into it. There are 2 screws holding it in place. Unscrew these but keep the resevoir firmly in place as the nasty parmesan-type smell is actually stagnant water and you really really dont want to spill it. Empty it and then what i did was bleach and anitbacterialise the resevoir tray and the little tube thing. Though I had the problem solved but now it is doing it again less than 2 months after this, so I'm going to contact the people who sold it to me. This is how you get rid of the smell though!!
